No metal hooks!!!!

Other than that you can't go too wrong. Go to Wal*Mart or you local auto parts store and get one. Usually they're 2" wide, rated at 20,000 pounds. I wouldn't get any less than that but I would bother with anything much nicer, either, unless you're really careful about protecting your gear. When they get dirty they break down so keep it clean or replace it when it gets worn. Should be around $30-40.

NO hooks, and if you are using it for recovery while offroading get a recovery strap not a tow strap. Tow straps aren't made for the stresses.

I got my recovery strap at Gander mtn of all places. It's the same brand Quadratec and 4wd sell, Keeper. I paid $20 for a 2" x 20' strap rated for 20000 lbs. It was the cheapest I could find.
Dont get one with hooks, most places dont allow them.

I like the Big Daddy - bought a couple for friends for x-mas, and now I want one

Tellico Offroad has them at a decent price, I'm sure you might find them cheaper though.

And as both the previous posters said, NO METAL HOOKS!!!

Hooks are evil, and turn into lethal projectiles if the strap fails. Granted, a flying strap can do some damage, but you put a big metal hook on the end of it, and you're asking for a bad day.

No. That's a Tow Rope... you need a Recovery Strap. Recovery straps stretch a little both to keep the strap from breaking and be easier on the vehicles.

ok, I can understand the little stretch you need, but I wouldnt be to worried about breaking something like this

From NT link
"Breaking strength of 140,000 lbs." aka 70 tons

Yes I have a 20,000 lb strap but someone offered me one of these so I was just wondering. thats all

Granted 140,000 lbs of breaking strength would be nice to have but at $390 I would buy something else.
