Tools Everybody Should Have.

I'm just curious as to which tools you guys believe everyone should have.

Whether it be a simple 2$ tool or a 200$ tool that makes everything easier.

Pretend money isn't an object and list everything you would take if it was all for free.

I'm trying to see what you recommend and what I should look into buying.

The only tool I don't have right now is cash. Cash makes everything easier.

Assuming you have an unlimited supply of varius types of steel, an end mill, lather, plasma cutter, and a welder you could make just about anything for your jeep as long as it doesnt need to be heat treated.

An impact wrench!
Air or electric, they make life sooo much easier when you are trying to fix whatever it is you broke last.

And provides and opportunity to break new things as well.

Best tool, hands down.

Best tool, hands down.

I can't even begin to argue with that.

Lets just pretend that you can get them for free. I'm trying to figure out what I should buy first and then the luxury items that make everything easier. Not just jeep related either. Just tools in general.

Here is what I think is important. Feel free to chime in.

3/8" deep and shallow socket set.
1/2" deep and shallow socket set.
A few 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets.
Several 3/8 and 1/2 extensions and swivels.
3/8 and 1/2 breaker bar.
Vice grips (needle and regular)
Pliars
Various oils, greases, lubes, etc.
torch to heat and loosen bolts.
Set of open ended wrenches metric and sae
Adjustable wrenches

What other hand tools do you guys see neccesary?

For other tools I'm thinking this;

3/8,1/4, and 1/2" dewalt 18v cordless impact gun.
Sawzall
Jigsaw
Angle grinder (cut off wheels and wire wheels)
A few cordless drills
Drill bit set

I can't think of anything else at the moment. What would you guys add?

Aside from normal hand tools off the top of the head.

in no order
  • ratcheting box wrenches, the flex head version
  • several sizes of hammers
  • several vice grips in various sizes with straight and curved jaws
  • C clamps
  • reaching magnets and grabbers
  • a few $10 right angle grinders, each with a different tool. Changing from cutter, to grinder to wire brush and back is a time killer.
  • inspection mirror
  • cat litter
  • lock ring and snap ring pliers. good ones
  • good tall jack stands, at least two pair.
  • a couple different bottle jacks
  • spark plug wire puller
  • latex gloves
  • brake tools
  • 36MM socket
  • big breaker bar
  • anti seize
  • tap and die set
  • good wire stripper and crimper
  • soldering iron
I have a lot of crap after collecting for 35+ years

I seriously wouldn't mind just having every tool, ever.

I use a julienne peeler all the time in the kitchen, wreckin' up cucumbers and carrots for salads, I use a refractometer for canning fruits, I use this sweet-*** lens cap white balance tool for taking photos of stuff, I borrow one of these things from a friend a couple times a year when I feel like blowing an evening truing my bike wheels, I think everyone should own a good sewing machine and a serger, to make and repair clothes and upholstery and sails... seriously I could go on all day long here but it would be easier to just find the "add everything we sell to your cart" button on Amazon if money's really no object in this exercise.
