today, my family had to put down a loved one

Boris, our Cocker Spaniel, 15 years old, had to be put to sleep today. a very loving dog, that i could actually talk to and he would talk back in his own way..lol..i loved him greatly

when i was in the 6th grade, he showed up on our door step out in the country, so we kept him, and who knew he would have turned out to be such a great companion for the next 11 years for all of us

It's hard to lose a good friend. Doesn't matter if he wags a tail instead of smiling. My condolences.

I know what you mean, bud. We had to put down our mutt a little over a year ago. She had arthritis and some crazy skin disease. She couldn't even walk up and down stairs to get to her bed anymore.

thanx every one. yes, it is very hard losing a dog like that. i honestly havent cried like i did today for 10 years. it just hit me like a ton of bricks. My step dad called me and told me he wanted me to go with him bc the dog wasnt doing well. so then, i was there, at the vet, when it was decided. the vet said all they could do was run tests, and it was one of 3 problems, all of which were devistating, so even if we did put him thru the tests, there really isnt much they were going to be able to do anyways. they asked if we wanted to be present for when they gave him the shot, but there was no way in hell i was going to be able to watch that, and now i kinda feel bad about not being there. my step dad couldnt watch either...it was just to hard on both of us...like i said, i was in the 6th grade when we got him, i was only 11 years old, so hes been around for a while

i was fine until we decided it was going to be best to put him down. thats when i broke down.

a friend of mine and i went to a range today, shot some guns, and i actually do feel a lot better just from doing that. just had to get my mind off of it for a while, so i shot 117 rounds thru my .45 in less then an hr...

thanx again guys

Sory to hear about your dog. I know exactly what you're going through. A couple of years ago we had to put down our beagle of 12 years due to, what the vet said was a "softball-sized tumor" in his chest. One of the hardest days of my life.

Nuthin' said it best:

well theres no doubt about that.

all i can think of are all the little conversations boris and i had..lol..i would talk to him, and he would get a huge smile and just start, almost mumbling back to me...lol...we could go on like that for a while...it kinda sounds cheesy, but thats what we did..lol...one of the many great things ill always remember about him
