TJ: Where is the blinker fluid reservoir?!! This is pissing me off!
Ok, so my buddy has a 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ.
His left blinker is blinking extremely rapidly, the right is fine, and when the emergency lights blink, everything is normal. We went to Autozone, and asked some of the guys having cigarettes outside why this was, and they told us that it was probably low on blinker fluid. However, they don't sell it, and we had to get it from the Jeep dealership. Unfortunately this was Saturday night, and Sunday the dealership was closed. Fast forward to today: I told our problem to some of the guys at work, and lo and behold, the only piece of crap employee that absolutely hates me had some old blinker fluid in his truck. He told me it's a bit old, so that's why it smells like urine and doesn't have the bright orange color that normal blinker fluid has. But, he said if we put it in both sides, then the color and speed of blinking will be the same. Now, I opened the hood, and am looking around the headlight area for a reservoir, but I cannot find it! Where do I put it in? Please help, I am so confused. PS: Is it OK if he gave it to me in an old Pepsi bottle? He said that the original bottle had a crack in it.

I can't find any anywhere. All the sites I go to have them sold out.
And that's why I couldn't get any at Autozone. They said that it's a specific Jeep part and that other fluid won't work. |

Oh, no, this isn't a serious issue, it's just bothersome seeing one blinker blinking rapidly.
But this doesn't make sense. If the blinker fluid was low, wouldn't it blink slowly, not fast? Please help, this is so confusing! |

Changing your own blinker fluid can be easy if you know what to look for.
Under the car you want to first disconnect your driveside Johnson Rod. With the Johnson Rod out of the way you'll see a set of two Anheiser Valves, loosen the one closest to the front of the vehicle. With the front Anheiser Valve loose you can poor the blinker fuild right into your gas tank. The loose valve will prevent it from going into your engine. Turn the car on and put your hazards on for a few minutes. Reverse the process and you're done! |
