You can do much better than that if you're patient. I got a Sansa 1Gb off of woot.com awhile back for $15 (+$5 shipping). You could buy a max of three, still $5 shipping total. It's a pretty solid little machine, good battery life plus a micro SD slot so you can add another 2gb if you really need. Has an FM radio and displays color pics too, whole thing is barely bigger than my thumb.

That would be sweet for abusing in the cold weather on my bike ride to work, thanks for the link.

But can it hold 4 seasons of 'The Office'? Gotta stick with the video iPod for long trips.

Woot.com sells old technology, at a very good price I must add, but there's no guarantee that you will come across that deal again.

I got a 4 gig knock off a while back for $15 shipped. Not a fan of portable music, but it works good.

But Creative Labs doesn't give you the Apple dock connector, which has been relatively stable and standard for years.

For that very reason, there is aftermarket support for the iPod that nothing else can match.

For example if you were fortunate enough to own an Audi - you can get an integration kit that puts all your iPod songs on the info cluster right next to your speedometer, and you can navigate the iPod using the steering wheel buttons.

Or... if you're only worried about your Jeep... countless 1-DIN aftermarket head units have support for iPod integration.

House hold accessories? You can get dock cradles etc for your stereo... your TV... your toilet roll holder... everything.

I used to hate the iPod... My old Sony had a bigger capacity... it had longer battery life... then I hated how even Sony didn't make a 1-DIN radio that supported it.
