Thinking of Moving to Denver

Moved the wife, myself, and the TJ to Tucson last year and apart from playing in the Reddington Pass area, haven't gotten to do much wheeling. December is fast approaching and thus the lease's end. We're trying to decide where try living next and Denver has come up high on the list:

* Direct flights to Indianapolis
* Vegetarian/Celiac Healthfood stores
* It's Not in New Mexico

Uh, that's really all I can come up with. Tucson is beautiful and I love the desert, but the people around here are pretty bone headed (and I'm a Hoosier). It's impossible to get anything done and the Mexican food is terrible (Sonoran style == no flavor). Las Vegas is too hot, Phoenix is too mecca-pretend-you're-rich, and California is too expensive.

So, whatchall think of Denver? Where should we look (Highlands Park?)?

Any other advice?

We're going up in a couple of weeks to check it out.

Thanks!

I moved here 4 years ago and I love it. I moved from the Chicago area and it's easy to get back to that part of the country for me.
Where to live depends on a lot, really. If you're renting/buying, how much you want to spend, where you'll be working, etc.
I live in Boulder. People either love it or hate it. I like being close to the mountains and the music scene here. I do have to commute to Denver which is a bit of a drag. I will be moving to Nederland(west of Boulder) when I get a job in Boulder.

The weather here is great. All four seasons, lots of snow, and the winters are very mild compared to the IL/IN and it's sunny almost everyday.

Highlands Park is just my "looks decent on the map" location.

We're going to rent for a year as we did here in Tucson, and then hopefully buy in the less than 500K range... I'd like to get some land with that too- I can't stand zero lot line neighborhoods. Is that possible within reasonable commute of the airport?

if you want some land, by the airport is nice then. There are alot of developments popping up out there where you can pick up on some space. Commute to downtown isnt THAT bad from that direction either. With that price though, you can nab up a nice house especially with how the market is right now.

I have visited Ft. Collins several times. I'd MUCH rather live in Ft. Collins than Denver.

If you're not used to altitude, spend a weekend in Flagstaff before you decide to move to Woodland Park. That's my advice.

Besides, 'Cause says: "Colorado is CLOSED!"
