Thinking About Moving

I live in NY, Long Island to be exact and it is getting really expensive to live here. We can't afford a house right now as prices are about 400k for something semi decent in this area. Anyways, I saw a posting at my job for a position in Asheville NC. My wife has been talking about moving to NC for a while now. Anyone have any info about this town or area. How are the schools and the housing and is there any good off roading around there. I haven't done any research yet so I thought I would start here until later when I can sit down a do a lot of research. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks in Advance........

Why aren't you packed yet? Biggest encounter you'll have is the locals will hate you being from up north. Which is no different than anywhere else, everyone hates New Yorkers

I don't live there so I won't get in to the specifics...but it's a nice area. There is also great wheeling up there as you're close to Tellico.
