Last friday morning......I wake up (have the day off at 9 a.m. and go out to Jeep parked in driveway. Hmm. Jeep is parked funny. From this angle (Driver side, front) I can see that the passenger door is open. Someone broke in!!! Wait. No. As I walk around to passenger side of Jeep I can clearly see that someone has smashed my Jeep and sped off! I call and make police report, call insurance, and take it to dealer to have it looked at. $4000-$5000 in damages. Obviously this guys car is smashed and he spent some time picking up all the pieces.

The next day...... I notice, in the driveway next to where I was parked, a small peice of plastic lying colored side down. Sure enough, it matches the paint left behind on my Jeep. Very bright blue. I think to myself, "Subaru WRX". Go to Subaru dealer and badda bing. I am correct. The part numbers on the back match an Imprezza. Call and report it to police.

Later that morning..... I write in the windows of my Jeep, "Police looking 4 Blue Subaru Imprezza". It's there for 4-5 hrs in my front yard (I live on busy street) when I decide that people probably think I am crazy so I clean it off.

The following Tuesday......A cop from the P.D. calls me to tell me of a person that knows someone with a car fitting the description. At which time I have to explain the officer the writing in my windows and what it said. Turns out that they find the address and put a letter in his mailbox giving him 10 days to come in.

One day later..... They find the car at dealership and impound car!

Two days later (Today).....The guy comes in and they get him to confess!!!

There is Justice!!! And a thank you to the anonymous caller

Dude, thats awesome. Glad to hear it. I hope they drill that a$$ for all he's worth (or at least enough to cover your Jeep). Sorry bout your Jeep but I know thats a good feeling....

My thoughts exactly! Just told friends that same thing.......He must have thought he was pretty slick until he got that letter in the box.....

Damn - sucks about your Jeep. I'm really happy to hear that sometimes, good does prevail. What's next? Your insurance gonna cover it? Or is the the insurance company of the guy who hit you gonna cover it? That is - if the bastard has insurance.

I had a $500 share to pay if I didn't find him or if he had no insurance. Sounds like he does have insurance by what the cop said. What sucked most was I just put it up for sale two days earlier to go buy my Rubicon! I even have permission from the fiance to get the 4" lift and tires installed! Now I am set back a few more weeks.

If he has insurance, make sure you get a hit and run charge added, if possible. This way you should be pretty much covered for insurance. Also, see if you can fix it yourself. Get the insurance estimate at the dealer, and there's the money for your lift.

So they have had my Jeep in the shop for over 3.5 weeks now. I was driving a Chevy Malibu until a snafu with the return of my Jeep. I am now driving a Chevy Aveo. Anyone seen one of these? They SUCK!!! I want my Jeep back! I have a ton of pics. Here a couple that show it off nicely.....




And from the inside......door is closed at latch.
