i had my piercing apprenticeship and worked in a piercing/tattoo parlor about a year and half ago (couldnt get the license because i was underage). one thing i learned about tattoos.......
whatever you get.. make sure it's completely original. DO NOT get something out of a book or a stencil... pay a bunch more money and get something entirely custom... your tattoo is something to represent YOU.... the day you see someone else with your tat, you'll be crushed and it'll never be the same.
i agree, when i went to get my cross, i was kind of looking through the books to see if there was anything in a certain style i liked....i decided to ask the artist if he had any crosses drawn up, and luckily enough for me he happened to have the one that i got. i asked him if he uses the same one on multiple people and he said no, once he uses a drawing on someone it doesn't go on anyone else. i know theres many people with a celtic cross, but at the same time mine is still different than any other, the rest of my work was drawn up by request and he didn't really charge me any extra.
Should a Compass ever actually see any offroad conditions, they magnitude of attraction would be so great that it would surely burst into flames causing the driver to vear into the nearest tree...this would cause massive forest fires that would eventually lead to the burning down of many houses, and possibly members of this forum.
No offense to anyone, i'm all about ink but lets say i have kids than my kids have kids and those kids which would be my grand children got a tattoo of myself cause i was a marine who served in iraq i'd probably ghost slap him. Its just corny i feel instead of getting a tattoo of someone who inspired you why not follow his or her foot steps.
I have an eagle on my right shoulder that I had done about 20 years ago. I like it and would get another one if the moment was right. Heck if my kids ever wanted to get one I would want to go with them and get another one.

Working in the auto parts industry, I get more comments on this thing than I ever thought I would. It starts up so many Pontiac conversations it's crazy lol. I'm still debating on getting it filled in or not, but I've got a few ideas kicking around.
Of course I've got a Jeep one in the works as well. I'm thinking something along the lines of this:
With square headlights no doubt
