Is a Tat different than a Tatoo? If I was getting a tat, it would probably be my name in gigantic old english script across my back. Like so big it had to arch in order to fit between my shoulders.

Now a Tatoo is a whole different story. If I was getting a tatoo, It would probably be a chick that covered my entire forearm.

I'm hard core though, you might consider something smaller.

I want to get one to remember my grandfather. I'm thinking of mixing in a PBY which he flew in WWII and the shield for his FD which he was cheif of for 30 years, along with his initials in a nice font. Just tossing the idea around since he is still kickin, but not for long unfortunatly.

The only tattoo I would ever get would be written on my right forearm "tam fortis quam aciarium." I have a steel plate set against my ulna with 8 titanium screws, and that quote means "as strong as steel" in Latin.

Both the tattoo and the plate would be with me forever, so there would be no chance that it would become too irrelevant.

That piece, the grim on your entire back would cost some serious bucks unless you have a friend that can hook you up.

i had my piercing apprenticeship and worked in a piercing/tattoo parlor about a year and half ago (couldnt get the license because i was underage). one thing i learned about tattoos.......

whatever you get.. make sure it's completely original. DO NOT get something out of a book or a stencil... pay a bunch more money and get something entirely custom... your tattoo is something to represent YOU.... the day you see someone else with your tat, you'll be crushed and it'll never be the same.

There must be thousands of college males who are crushed by the arm band every spring break.

I know I'm just kidding. I guess you've got to see it coming if you pick something off the wall though. But I've gotta say to those people, it can't mean nearly as much. If I sat down and paid an artist a lot of money and had a few discussions about the one I mentioned above, about my grandfather- I would be pretty pissed off if I saw it on someone else.

exactly...
most people would. IMO it ruins it...
only tattoo i personally like to be entirely copied and perfectly identical between every individual is the following :

either right there or on the wrist.... i think all of them being the same is kind of the point ya know?
