Tarp Surfing.

Saw this on the news tonight, had no idea such a thing existed. Then again, I do not watch much tv. Looks like it has a following, over a million hits on this video. Simulating an ocean wave environment.

Honestly, it seems weird to me too, was just wondering if this is a new or re-newed craze catching on.

Looks pretty interesting, but I am not sure it is fully worth the effort. That tarp must have been pretty expensive though. It is big. Cheapest we can find for our pool is like $50 and that is bigger than what we get.

That is in no way shape or form compared to surfing. Maybe the fact that your on a board. I live on east coast so I dont get to experience barrels like west coast but when hurricane season hits and we get one off coast the barrels form. And that is a crazy experience. This tarp thing doesnt even come close to the real barrel experience.

You guys are totally missing the point lol. Its not supposed to simulate real surfing, its just a cool thing to do in a parking lot. Its a pretty weird feeling while you're in there too.

No one does this as a simulation for surfing. Thats what wave pools are for.

This.

With more people its more fun and cheaper though. I'd say its more worth doing if you have 5 or more people who want to do it.

But why not find something better to do with your time? Like knitting or underwater basket-weaving?

Looks like a lot of effort for a little bit of fun time. Kind of like sex. Pass.
