study/paper writing music?
I am writing a paper on women in the 16th and 17th centuries......
so I am instead diverting my attention: what do you listen to relax/think/study/write? I am listening to Matisyahu, California Guitar Trio, James Blunt really softly so I can think....it isn't helping ![]()

I've listened to all sorts of junk while studying.
I prefer instrumental stuff. Buckethead - Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell (This is pretty heavy, might be too distracting for most) Michael Hedges - Ariel Boundaries (Killer acoustic guitar melodies) Any other albums works, too. George Winston - December (Piano goodness) Converge - Jane Doe (non-instrumental, very insane) Soundtrack to The Matrix III Robin Trower - Bridge Of Sighs (blues rock) I've got more. I all really just depends on what I feel like not listening to. If my computer is handy, I often use winamp to connect to some of the techno/trance stations they have. It's not my favorite stuff, but it's just something going on that doesn't really grab my attention. We also had a cool station on the radio that played sounds of the ocean late at night. I taped a few to play whenever. |

I usually listen to classical when studying. Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Handel, etc. If I listen to anything too upbeat, it makes me daydream about my Jeep. If I listen to nature cd's with crickets chirping, rain dripping, waves crashing, or whales humping, it makes me sleepy. Classical is a nice medium.
