Stephen King's Desperation

Waiting for the Cardinals/Giants to pick up last night I watched some of this movie. My god, it was terrible. So many of Stephen King's movies start out so-so and then get really, really bad. I like how he made the author the hero.

On another note how many movies/stories are going to use the crazy Conservative that kills all the "New York Liberals". Kind of played out now.

Almost all of Stephen Kings books main character is an Author, Writer, or Painter. I love his books but i hate the movies. Duma Key is my favorite book of his.

Who couldn't deny Maximum Overdrive! Stephen King even directed that one. It is an utter failure of cinematography. Now go watch it.

That movie wasn't THAT bad. I thought it was funny more than anything.

Most of his good movies/movies based on his books are not "horror"...Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, The Dead Zone. (EDIT: Forgot Stand By Me!!)

IMO, Pet Cemetery, The Shining and Misery are his only really good "horror" movies.

Stephen King books all are a pretty good read but they are all twice as long as they need to be and his endings always suck. It's like he gets to a point where "I'm bored of this story, The End"

"It" was the worst, IMO. This thing terrorizes the town for centuries. Kick it in the head, it dies, then end.

It scared the crap outta me! Course I think I was like 11 or 12 when I read it, and I never did see the movie after that.

Stephen King probably doesn't have much say in what happens in the movie. If he sells the rights to make the movie the one who buys the rights can do whatever they want unless it's in the contract when it's sold.
Stephen King has said that he was very disappointed in Stanly Kubrick adaptation of the Shining so he made his own made for TV version that followed the book very well.
Another movie adapted from one of his short stories that was done well was "The Mist". It had some details changed and the ending was far far better than the book.
I like most of his stuff but it really isn't scary and I mostly enjoy the character development in his stories.

I laughed a good bit. Even then vending machines were deadly! I will admit that I do like B-movie horror films. Though this one might have had a little more of a budget.

I did enjoy the AC/DC. They actually played in Atlanta Friday night. I wish I would've gone.

I love Stephen King books. However, I will never watch any of the movies. That would just ruin it for me.

I used to be a huge King fan,I actually liked IT. But he sure seems to have jumped the shark a decade ago. I grew up reading the dark tower series but the last 2-3 in the series were nothing more than King's mid-life crisis down in print. You know you're in for a disappointment when the forward by the author tells you that the ending is going to piss off all his fans.

The last two weren't that great. I really just wanted to finish the series so it would end. (Sort of end).

Even The Shawshank Redemption or Stand By Me?

I agree with the general statement that most of movies based on King's work suck but some are pretty good, don't you think?
