Stay outta construction sites

Just ran into a buddy that builds houses and has a small subdivision under const. He had a big smile on his face and said "I've got him now!!" He's talking about some kid with a heavily modded TJ that keeps running through his subdivision, off road, tearing up the new ditches, silt fences, new lawns, etc. The punk kid did it again but this time there's two eye-witnesses and one of the neighbors has him on video. After the last time, my buddy told the neighbors to keep their video cameras handy and he'd pay $100 for any tape showing this kid tearing up the area. Cheap video surveillance system.

In about two hours the cops are showing up at the kids house with a tow truck and are going to impound the Jeep and arrest the kid. He won't get the Jeep back until after the trial and he pays for damages and fines. And he'll probably have to replace a bunch of mods that get stolen while its in the impound lot. The way the courts are, he won't see whats left of his Jeep until next spring sometime.

The kid, about 18, was warned twice and he just laughed and said "You got no evidence". Lets see how much he laughs this time.

I know most Jeepers are responsible but if you get the urge to do something stupid, like the above, just be ready to pay if you get caught.

Yeah, construction sites are a HUGE no no.

I was just drving threw one ON THE ROAD, and someone called the cops on me thinking I was "tearing things up".

I had to go to the site with the detective just to show him my tire tracks and how they DID NOT leave the road.

Good for your buddy!

I've got some punk kids down my street that were hanging around a construction site across the road a few nights ago. Someone over there called the cops on them and there were three cop cars at their house within minutes.

you have to be stupid to drive through construction sites.....

I guess I value my tires too much to risk running over nails and such that are always all over the place...

If you punks knew how much it cost me to run a bulldozer to shape those ditches- the cost of an operator, diesel, equipment repairs, the time I spend putting in the correct soil mix to make sure the ditches perk correctly- grass seed, etc- ditches run me about $20/ft plus the time involved, which may not seem like a lot but one idiot can trash 100 feet easily in a couple of minutes. So I hope all of you screwing around on sites get caught, thrown in jail, and your vehicles impounded. I hope a judge makes you work it off with a shovel and a rake, rather than letting your stupid parents pay me back, since they never taught you to respect other peoples property.

[end of rant]

Someone either here or on JU posted some photos of what happened when he went wheeling his XJ at night on a construction site. Ended up driving into a ditch that was larger than the truck. It was nearly completely swallowed, upside down.

I remeber that, it was a stock XJ if i remeber right.

How about the guy who posted a video of his TJ's first flop, and it was in a construction site?

i wont lie my first off road experence was in a construction site, but long story short, a guy who worked there showed up to get some tools and walked up to me and told me how much time was involved in fixing my ruts(didnt know it was so detailed), he let me go with a warning as where i was playing hadnt yet been touched, but it scared me enough i wont touch a site anymore, hell i even get scared to turn around in one anymore,

I am lucky. My brother owns a construction company, and he will let me run around some on his sites, but only before he does all the grading and stuff to it.

Just a couple of weeks ago he started a whole subdivision (about 50 single and double lots). He called me up so we could go play some before he got to the "real" work....

I actually started dating a female cop who tried to bust me for wheeling on his site. It took a little splaining to do to her, but that was good times...except for her owning a gun and taser and all.

Other than having family like that, don't ever go near construction sites.

The cost can add up quick the dozer I run for an hourly job is 195 bucks an hour. Some of the job sites I'm on after it is graded the survaiors have to come in to certify it so it can run into some big time money.
