speeding ticket speedo gear?

Hey guys i just got my first speeding ticket in my jeep. ON CHRISTMAS EVE!!!! yea the woman cop was a big *****. So anyways i really dont want the ticket. I have 33's and my speedo gear is off some but not enough to keep me from getting a 61 in a 45. When i looked at my speedo when i saw her i was at around 54 to 55. Does anyone know what size speedo gear to order out of quadratec to make my speedo show it was off by more when i get it checked. I know this is a bad thing to do but im 18 and really dont want my insurance going up more and i work in the automotive field so this makes it harder to get dealer jobs. The other thing i might do is buy a couple of 35's to put on the back when i get the speedo checked. thanks guys.

Can't help with the gear, but I don't think that approach is likely to work unless you can also prove you just bought the jeep, equipped the way it is now, and didn't have any idea the speedo was off. And even that's a stretch, you are responsible for the equipment you drive. Bummer but....

You think by putting the incorrect speedo gear in your t-case will fix the ticket?

Man up and pay it. You can fight it and attempt to get it reduced, but I don't know what ground you would stand on.

Do not resort to lying, it gets you no where.

how much was the ticket for ? just sign the back as the no guilty box, go to court and talk with the prosecutor in the morning about it , he will either get rid of it, drop it or make you pay the amount... If anything, go buy the correct speedometer gear, show them the receipt for it and say you wernt aware of it at the time, but no have it corrected. Time to grow some balls, gotta pay to play.

BTW if you want strict speeding laws, come to CT, $198 for 6-10mph over, $279 for 15-19 mph over, over 20 the cop can arrest you on the spot ,plus youll have to see a judge for further fines/suspensions

You can call the local prosecutor and plead quilty to a lesser charge. 99% of the time they will reduce the charge to something that won't effect your insurance but it will cost you some dollars now.
As for the speedo doing 55mph and she clocked you at 60 sounds pretty close. It's hard to beat the radar guns.

ummm...and anyway, having a stock speedo gear in a Jeep with tires that are bigger than stock is going to make your speedometer register FASTER than you're actually going, not slower.

I was thinking the same thing. So the only way you're going to make the "defective equiptment" ticket(which is signifigantly lighter fine and points) is by saying that the guy that owned the car before you must have had much larger tires and you didn't know the speedo was geared for his larger tires.

Oh man, I guess you haven't heard about VA's "civil penalty" fees? It's over a grand every time you get a reckless or lane change without signal.

16 over? And you're asking us to help you lie and cheat to get out of a ticket?

Nobody likes getting a ticket, but man up and pay. Especially since you already admit it was your fault. The best thing you can do is come clean, be honest, learn from your experience and grow from it.

I just bought a jeep with 33"s and when the speedo says 55 im actually doing 65 on my gps?????? your saying the stock speedo will be faster than im going! mine reads the opposite, whats wrong with mine then? it rangers from 6 to 10mph difference depending on my speed(slower speed+6, faster speeds+10)
