i think this should be placed in the general dis section but...

i think its a bad decision, if you have a clean record you will probably just get probation before judgement and a class to go to. I just finished with my class tonight, i got 3 years probation and a class, just say guilty with an explanation if you have one.

Brother, This is the United States of America. If it is true and you can prove it, you can say anything you want. I'd pay the ticket, it bets going to jail just to add your 2 cents.

Hope it turns out ok

Court for a speeding ticket??? Were you doing 125 in a school zone while the short bus was unloading? Everytime I've been caught speeding its either been a warning or a 50 or so dollar ticket. What state do you live in? I'm going to add to it to my avoid at all costs road trip list.

does your detector pick up lasers? if not, that may be why your detector didn't go off. not sure about where you live, but here in AR, if you pay the ticket without going to court, it doesn't show up on insurance, therefore, the insurance does not go up. i'd rather pay a short term one lump sum than to pay long term payments. oh, and at least you didn't get pulled over and given a warning for doing 40mph in a 40mph zone like i did.

48 in 30 zone. $130. MN.

My hope is the officer doesnot show up.

If he does, I can bargain saying i did not see the limits since i havent been on that road before. the speed limit drops from 65 to 30 on the US hwy. I will pay as much as i have to to keep it off my record.

damn, i hate rules.

Here in Ohio you have the choice to pay the ticket or going to court to contest it. I would most definitely not, repeat not, bring up your radar detector. First off, most states have a law against owning and using detectors. Second, don't you think it is kind of bad to admit using a radar detector in the first place? If you are doing the speed limit, you don't need a detector, and so by possessing one, it kind of puts a bad light on you, admitting that you use it in a way instills the belief that you speed. If you get my gyst. I would talk more about the amount of traffic and the ability of the officer to use the radar in traffic, and maybe mention something about the reliability of the kind of radar used etc etc...oh don't bring up ignorance of the law, that is not a defense against tickets usually.

my father once got pulled over for 35 in a 45....for speeding. it was a great day out not slick or anything. judge wanted to yank his licence for 3 months. after finaly talking him down to 3 weeks he was happy.....his 69 dodge charger was going out for paint and having the 318 bored out to a 383 i think he said. took 3 weeks to the day lol
edit also ask the officer when the last time it was calibrated. then ask for the calibration records themselves.....there never done and are supposed to be done everyday.

hehehe.. yeah tell him you were doing more than 150% of the speed limit because "you did not see the limits"... tell martha stewart i said hi.

Pay attention to those white signs, important stuff on those.

bottom line, pay the fine, but mention the fact that it drops from 65-30 and you were getting there. that way you're at least competent enough to drive, and bring up the fact you have never been pulled over before... maybe you'll get a leniant judge, and he'll look at your record and go easy.

I get the point about the radar detector. My thinking was i could ask him if his radar was actually working and calibrated since my detector did not pick it up. I know this would invoke a picture of a anti social criminal in the judges mind.

i sacrificed my goatee , my hair will be gelled back and will wear a tie after 7 months. hope it works

lol, past 12 months have 2 speeding tickets and an accident and an accident in which i broke a fire hydrant (it wasnt my fault, i swear. the road was icy and there was a stray dog on the road. i chose to sacrifice the jeep and the hydrant instead of the dog...)...

even the most lenient judge wont take more than 5 seconds to decide. but what the heck, i wanna take the risk!!!!

I got ticketed for 77 in a 35. It was then reduced to 42 in a 35. From there, they reduced it to a loud muffler and had to go to school. That was a week after I obtained my license.

My advice: Dress nice, be polite, explain that it's your first time (if it is) and they'll probably reduce it for you.

Also, if you contest the ticket (if they allow you to) a lot of the time, the cop won't show and it may get thrown out.

If you were speeding, be a man and pay it. You got caught, sucks for you, but you took the chance. Don't try to do all the stuff like cleaning yourself up just to get out of the ticket. That shows no character at all. Parents are supposed to teach this stuff....
