So what did north korea blew up?

Air analysis from china and japan are both in, no radioactive material found. U.s. is still working on it, gona take a couple of days.

From the magnitude of shock it could be a dud that did not actually trigger fission, but can very well be achieved by blowing a bunch of TNT.

Third option supposed to read "a real nuke that worked"

The blast was estimated at roughtly 1.5 kt. That really is a sh*t load of conventional explosives, but not an impossible amount. Dynamite and TNT are both cheap and easy to cook up. This has been my theory from day one.

Let's hope it was 'only' conventional high explosives...

It's starting to look worse. They may have nukes.

I don't know what I think. Would there be radiation if they detonated it underground?

Doesn't a fusion nuke require it to be extremely hot for the atoms to fuse together (causing the reaction)? Maybe all we saw was the conventional explosive, not making it hot enough.

Or maybe I'm stupid and it's just a fission nuke, that didn't go off right.

I think it was just an exceptionally small nuke. Add to that that it was underground, and I don't suppose there would be too much to detect. I say that in comparison to other nuke tests, where the detection is much easier to do.

NKorea probably has a nuke and the material, but is not wasting much on testing it since they have such limited resources. Waste not want not.

So apparently preliminary result from U.S. testing says radioactive material is found, but it's from an annonymous source so I'm skeptical consider both china and japan found nothing.

Personally I'm leaning toward a dud. Fake makes no sense since people are gona find out, and no one will take him seriously ever again after that.

What I'm wondering thou, dosen't matter what it is, it's gona take quite a bit of prep work, so how come us' spy sat aren't picking it up so they'd know what exactly is being put in there?

Fusion would make it a H bomb, not an A bomb.

They tested a Bomb..... What kind???? Know one here actually knows that. The scary part is that this guy claims to have shot 11 holes in one in his first golf match. And he is so demented that he expects people to believe him.

I'm betting it wasn't a complete nuclear reaction, and was less than 5 kilotons. Either way, they're more than 60 years behind in technology.

Nuke test sites are supposed to be set up like a maze, with multiple blast doors. Theoretically, none of the radiation makes it to the atmosphere. Who knows, the North Koreans are such liars and posers,we may never find out.

I'm going with the "dark matter" option. Prove it wasn't.

Any nuclear detonation will give off gamma rays. Gamma rays don't stop at blast doors and some little maze, they're pretty determined little suckers.

the detonation was picked up as an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2
