So the manufacturer's won't take care of their trash anymore?

We sell Rockford Fosgate speakers here at my store, Rockford sent us a memo telling us that starting today any non working (defective, blown) speaker don't have to be returned to them, that we only have to send them the voice coil from the speaker and they will either send us a new speaker or give us credit for it.
Infinity told us the same thing a couple of months ago, but Infinity does not require any proof they take our word for it.
What are your thoughts?

Not entirely uncommon. Book stores just return the cover to their magazines and books for credit, the rest gets dumped.

My thoughts are that you should "warranty" me some kappa perfect 6.5" & 5.25" component speakers to replace my old blown references.

I worked at a tire shop during the whole Firestone/Ford Explorer fiasco where Ford was reimbursing everyone for a new set of tires. We just had to cut the DOT # out of the tires and the customer mailed those back to Ford to get reimbursed.

Yep. Every month I'd have to rip all the covers off of the expired magazines in the rack at Bass Pro and throw the insides in the dump. Probably over 2000 dollars worth a month. We'd keep a few copies to read in the store, but Loss Prevention would have a fit if you took one home - you'd get fired.

There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100% Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else.

My first experience in a wrangler was going to the Borders Books in downtown Ann-Arbor with my buddy to dig through the recycle bin in the alley behind it at 3:00 am. We found a automotive airbrush mag, a lot of porn, a couple random auto mags (Road & Track, etc..) and several good books. I was shocked they just rip the cover off and throw them out like that...

Anyways, yeah our suppliers say the same thing. Just pull X part out and ship it to us, and some just have us call them.

When I was younger I did furniture delivery. When we would bring back defective electronics most mfg would just have us throw them away, which we did. Usually they still had our tags on them.

One day a local pawn shop owner came in and asked us to quit giving defective electronics to the homeless. Our store manager had no idea what the guy was talking about. So the guy brought in a camcorder, some discmans (back when they were $100+), and a home theater receiver. The discmans were in their boxes still and all the items had our tags on them. He had purchased them all from homeless people. He wanted his money back to which our store manager told him to get lost. Didn't he think it was suspicious that homeless people were bringing in "brand new" electronics? He should have thought, and probably did, that he was buying stolen goods.

So from then on the policy was that we had to physically break these things before we could dumpster them. FYI "Demilling" defective TVs is fun!
