So I'm writing this paper...
I'm writing a paper for my international relations class on U.S. China relations, being the fantastic college student that I am I procrastinated until the last minute (It's 4:30, the paper is due at midnight) but that's besides the point. The goal of the paper is to analyze several different policies/events/periods of time from the two main perspectives of international relations theory those being realism and liberalism. Since it is a 10 page paper I'm thinking I'll pick ten different aspects (maybe 8 if I end up writing a lot for each one) and write about a page on each one. A few examples I was thinking of would be like policies of both countries concerning the Korean and Vietnam wars, or Nixon's trip to China, etc. I was wondering if you guys could give me a few more ideas to write about. My professor always gives up pretty loose instructions so I can take it in any number of directions.

Uh, do your homework earlier so that you don't have to turn to a forum to help do your research. Just my two cents. This is coming from a master procrastinator who earned a degree before the Internet took over our lives.

A key issue is going to be whether you support a "one-China" approach or a "two-China."
Read: Do you consider Taiwan to still be a part of mainland China or an independent country? Explain. If the latter, what do you plan to do to support Taiwan should mainland China decide they want to reclaim Taiwan? Treat this point as important.

Well, it's not like I was sitting around watching TV, playing video games and partying (OK, I have spent the last few sundays deer hunting). The last few weeks of the semester are extremely busy and I work nights and go to school full time. I really just made poor choices on what order to do my assignments in, which included writing a speech, a reaction paper to a book on global warming, studying for my archaeology test last week, and doing a presentation on the Stand Your Ground Law for my criminal procedure class. Honestly this was the hardest of my assignments so I put it off and did all the other stuff first. Thanks for the advice though.

Well, I'll probably end up turning this in a few hours late but I don't think my professor will really care since he tends to be pretty lenient especially since it's due right in the middle of thanksgiving break on a friday night. I'm powering through it though, I'm knocking out a page about every 20 minutes. I made a pretty good outline and that's helping a lot. Spending a lot of time on the trade embargo imposed because of the Korean war and how Chinese involvement in Vietnam was a bit of a hindrance to negotiations, then on to Kissinger's as well Nixon's visit in full, then I'll go more in depth on the two chinas thing, mention some stuff about Clinton and Bush jr. and then on to Obama and how China owns us now. I should squeeze 10 pages out of this thing yet. Wish me luck. I'm on my 4th cup of coffee and my eyes hurt from looking at the computer screen. I love college.
