I'd try to do a charge back asap, and get away from the deal.
There is nothing that makes this thing believable other than your own desire to not have been taken for a ride.
do it quick..

I think you're right. I'm going to do it as soon as my wife gets home with her credit card. I don't know the cc number and I'm not sure if my name is on that one. In the meantime, I think I'll try to call paypal and see if they can keep him from withdrawing the money.

Go into your paypal account and see if it shows as completed ( which it probably is. Try to reverse the payment on your paypal account.

I wish you the best of luck. See if you can file something with eBay about fraudulent sellers. You can also request information through eBay on members with whom you have an open transaction. Do that and find out who this SOB is.

Work harder! Millions on welfare depend on you!

Tell him you need to talk to him and ask him for his phone #! If I were you. I would be PRE-EMPTHING by calling your Credit Card company NOW, and advising them that you "Believe" you may be getting scammed on this deal... ask THEM what you should be doing to protect your rights right NOW. Ask for a list of questions to ask him, and what things should be done on your part to assist the CC company to make things go your way. Also... KEEP your e-mails and any and ALL contacts from him. On second thought, because of this you may NOT want to call him as it will be your word against his. Keep asking him some very calm, yet info gathering questions. Get anything from him that will show the CC company that you did EVERYTHING in good faith for this to be a "ligament" transition. If and WHEN you do dispute this... Your CC company will send you a dispute letter. Don't get lazy here. Have the eBayer ID and Item Number with the link to the auction itself. Print and send copies of all of your e-mails to the CC Company as well. Let us know how its going!

Alright, I filed a claim which puts a hold on his account. Now, as long as he hasn't already gotten the money, he can't get it until the claim is settled. It's been less than 24 hours. I know every time I've ever tried I withdraw funds from paypal it took a couple of days. So, hopefully he hasn't gotten the money yet.

I'm going to give him tonight to reply before I call the CC company. I'm going to feel bad if the guy shipped me two imacs today and hasn't gotten home from work yet.

Update* I called the guy several times this afternoon but got no answer. I was sure he'd given a wrong phone number to ebay. But, at 7:05 my time, 5:05 his time (as soon as he got off work) he called me back. He said he had to go into work today, but he's shipping the two imacs tomorrow via USPS. He was totally cool about it and even understood when I told him I'd put a hold on his money. He's calling me back tomorrow afternoon.

So MAYBE all you people were stressing me out for nothing. He even went into detail about how he came into a lot of computers for cheap. I actually think he's legit, but I'm not cancelling the claim I filed until I'm sure. I feel a lot better now.

I just may have got a great deal afterall.

Nobody is stressing you out... You came to everyone on here to see what we thought of the situation and to offer help. Its the situation you got yourself in thats stressful. I'm on your side in this situation and hope it goes well for you. I hope it is a good deal, if not... the time you spend trying to resolve this situation might cost you more than the "deal" you got. Good luck!

I'm just messin' around. I'm fine. I do value to opinion of jeepforum which is why I use it as a guide to all things important in my life............. how to file my taxes, where to buy jeep seats, interest rates........ actually........ maybe that's what's wrong with my life?

Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better about my ebay transaction now. It could still be a total scam but after talking to the guy personally, I don't think so. I'm a pretty good judge of people and I think he's being straight.

SWEET! Two 24" imacs for $1,650!

If you have his phone number, you can do a reverse lookup and get his real name, address, etc.

I've done this in the past. Boy were they surprised when I showed up at their house.

I hope it works out for you. That would be one heck of a deal. I'll give you $800 for the second one.

The fact that you have his number and he inset a "made up person" just to scam someone, does help you. If paypal (yuck) cant help you, if your CC company cant help you. You can always do things the legal way in small claims. If that doesn’t work, Hell, I assume you own a Jeep for crying out loud... Go tear up his yard! Lol… But for now… I would be very cautious. Again… Keep us posted.

I say its a scam. From the fake pics to the zero feedback and the fact that he only been a member for a few days is very suspicious. X2 on having his #number and tracking him down if it doesn't work out. I bought a Wii on ebay and had this happen to me and stupid f***ing paypal only covered $200 so I lost a $100 on the deal cause I paid with a debit card.

The "fake" pictures don't mean anything. He claims they are "new in box", so obviously he wouldn't have taken pictures of them set up. And where would be the most logical place to get pictures? The company website.

Yes, it seems a little fishy, but I wouldn't let the photos be a concern.

I've used stock photos before from the internet when I didn't already have a photo handy and didn't feel like digging out my camera. I personally can't tell if this is a scam or not, usually it's faily obvious.
