Smash Lab Sucks

I know there have been threads about this show in the past, but I only just started watching it. I have discovered that it is not very good. I like most everything else on the Discovery Channel, but this show is almost embarrassing. Their "solutions" are completely impractical, overkill, and yet horribly unsuccessful. And on top of that, most of the problems have a 1 in a million chance of happening.

In the last episode I saw they attached giant airbags and outriggers to cars to keep them from rolling over if they drove off a cliff. Turns out the cliff was more of a hill, and both cars haplessly rolled down with their crappy contraptions flapping in the wind.

In the next episode they will test ways for making a car indesctructible in an accident. One solution is to shoot the car into the air using explosives so that the oncoming car goes under it. I have a better idea, why don't they just set off a nuclear bomb. I'm sure that would prevent any accident.

This show is just an excuse to blow stuff up. Not like I don't love a good explosion, I just wish they would stop pretending like they are doing anything else.

So what do you all think of the show?

It blows. Just like the majority of spin-offs.

The commercials looked stupid. That was enough for me.

The show is freaking retarded. They act like experts, yet come up with the stupidest most impractical solutions to completely unreasonable problems. Their solutions suck so bad it is pathetic, and they act like they made it halfway successful when in fact it was an utter failure. Discovery channel needs to stick to its good shows like Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs, and they need to stop trying to make crappy copies of their own good shows. I see Smash Labs as a stupid and pathetic version of Mythbusters.

They looked at the ratings from Mythbusters and decided that idiots like seeing explosions, so they slapped together some crap for an excuse to put as many lame blow-'em-up shots in an episode as possible while still maintaining some vague guise of a science show, and ended up with "Smash Lab".

You're right, it's crap and an embarrassment. And worse, idiots will watch it and more shows like it will come along.

I've only seen a couple episodes. I liked the one where they tried different safety devices for the front of the trains. The ideas had potential, but their trials just happened to fail.

I watched the preview for the next one and watched as the car went straight up in the air after this huge explosion as the car starts to go under it and all I could think was, these people should be beat about the head and neck with a very blunt stick.

So the premise in that episode is to avoid an accident, but yet by setting off the explosion under the car, you effectively kill the passenger and total the car by doing it. Ignorant, absolutely freaking ignorant, I've never been able to make it through an entire episode. I've flipped over to that channel and watched for about 5 minutes but then realized I was losing IQ points by the second, fortunately I managed to grunt loud enough to scare the dog into jumping up and stepping on the remote, so the channel changes.

Bah, this is all moot. The girl is cute and that's reason enough to watch the show.

She's not that cute, that show is horrible. They would literally have to do a show with 10 girls better looking that her cooking bacon in the nude using pie tools to get me to watch again.

I wouldn't recommend doing this.
