I bought a blurry gun once. Never shot it, could quite figure out the caliber.

Decided to finally cleaning the cosmoline off the 91/30 - googled several ways to clean it up and thought hot water was the best and least harsh way to clean it up - was quite disappointed when the cosmoline came off

Don't get discouraged.

There's a million ways to remove the cosmo.

I used the hotwater/krud kutter solution and it worked VERY well.

I would also recommend taking it apart completely.

Not at all discouraged just disappointed in the finish of the stock. Before the bath the finish looked good and wanted to keep it original rather than refinish it. I'm undecided what I am gonna do next though - refinish or leave it

I did break it completely down pulled the magazine apart, broke the bolt completely down and removed the barrel from the stock. Was so simple only 2screws hold it together (2 more for butt platetoo)

Weird, I never would have soaked a wooden stock in water.

Heat gun and towels.

Or wrap it in towels inside a black trash bag, leave it in the sun, and it all leaches out. Probably works better here when it;s 115* though.

Yea - lesson learned, saw a few ways and thought this looked the least harsh vs chemicals and direct heat -

I've heard of people laying them on their dashboards on a hot, sunny day.
