There is a local guy up here that does some amazing re-grinds on them, and makes the factory edge seem dull. PM me if you want his info.

Manufacturers can date weapons by the serial stamped on the receiver.

What make and model is it? I have a couple books here with info on manufacture dates for certain makes and models. It is by no means complete but we might luck out.

Winchester Model 25. 12 guage pump

Over 87,937 manufactured.
Manufactured between 1949 and 1954.

This web site, http://www.oldguns.net/sn_php/winmods.htm indicates that Winchester manufactured 87937 model 25's between 1949 and 1954. A book I have, Stoeger's Gun Trader's Guide 18th edition, just says that those guns were manufactured from 1949-1955. No serial no. info is available from either source.

If it has any surface rust or crud on the metal, rub it lightly with 000 steel wool and light oil. It won't harm the bluing.

zero rust on it and the wood finish is looking pretty good. no major scratches despite being used for many many duck hunting seasons

the pump action isnt very smooth. kinda hard. figured it would need to be oiled up?
