If you're talkinf Springfield XD's then The tactical has the 5" barrel, The service has the 4.5" barrel, and Compat has the 4" barrel. The subcompact is a 3.5" barrel if I am not mistaken.

I have owned both an XD .40 Tactical, and an XD .45 Compact with I didn't like.

I like both guns, I have a glock 19 already. I plan on having this gun for home defense/toy, I like the xd but my friend bought 2 different xds and they were both crappy constantly mis feeding jamming and misfireing. So he sold those and bought a glock32 .357 sig...

If you've done your research, and I'm sure you have, then go shoot them yourself... then you make the decision.

If you're looking for a carry gun, and chambered in .45 I would suggest the Glock 36. I loved mine.

Whats the purpose of the gun? Range, target shooting, cc? Gonna be honest, nothing about the FN really stands out as something that would catch my eye to purchase. If I were going to shoot .45 it would be a 1911.

I'm looking for a full sized .45 I will be using it for carry, home defense, shooting at the range. I kinda started liking the FNP because it seems to be similar to a 1911.

I just bought a full sized EAA Witness in 9mm (which I suspect is similar in size to the FN). For me, it is much to big to carry. I love shooting it, but wouldn't carry.

If it were my money, I'd buy something different for 6-700$. Just my 2c.

Between the two I would take the FNP45 - Bass Pro had a good shooter deal on those awhile back. I went a different route and got a CZ97B instead...

I don't know if "sponsor" is the phrase I'd use but I didn't pay for much of it. I have had the gun for over 20 years.

I have replaced the guide rod spring/guide rod (2 piece) with the captured model (1 piece), the 5.5lb trigger connector with the 8lb, slide stop lever with the raised slide stop lever, added drop free magazines (but kept the old ones) and a Hogue grip sleeve. Glock actually gave me all the upgrade parts free (except the grip of course).

I don't shoot it much anymore because I have a plethora of guns I don't pay for at my disposal.

Get the XD in the barrel length of your choice. Then use whatever you have left over to buy another XD in the second barrel length of your choice.

UPDATE.. I decided to go with the Glock, I went and held the fnp and glock side by side. The Fnp was just too big for my hands. And I have larger than normal hands. It was very top heavy, felt unbalanced. The glock just felt better. I just need to find some magazine extentions. I would like a 2 round extention. Any suggestions?

I would go Glock. I have a 21C , 36 and a 17. I have always liked them, very reliable, easy to work on , stand up to a lot of abuse .IMO
