I got my tax return and I'm planning on making a purchase tomorrow, I just can't decide between an FNP-45 or the Glock 21. There both chambered in .45cal. Some help deciding would be great. Thanks Jeepers

I'd go with the FNP just to be different

Good discussion on this very thing here: FNP v. Glock (runs out like a typical JF thread but good info nonetheless)

our Dept issue is a g21. to large of a frame for me, but a solid gun. I've pry put a few thousand rounds out with my dept one and I have never had a malfunction, not saying that it doesn't happen. I have no expirence with a FNP. I carry a xdm40 tho....

Why do you want it? Carry? Home defense only? Cool toy? Safe queen?

I have a G21SF and it's massive. I like carrying full frame guns but even the SF model is WAY to big for me.

If you're just getting it for having another gun I would go with the FN. Glocks are ugly work horses. (I LOVE Glocks btw)

I am a Glock fan and have a G17 with about 100,000 rounds through it and it still shoots great. I like both the FNP and the Glock but I would lean towards the Glock.

Glock makes one of the best self defense pistols, because the controls are so simple. Point and pull. I really liked my subcompact in .40 (G23) Because I was going to spend more time at the range, I ended up trading it in and getting a Beretta 92FS. I added a sig 29, and later traded that for an HK USP 40. All of these guns had more controls than the glock, making practice critical, as things can go crazy in a high stress situation.

If you are going to spend time at the range, and do some draw and shoot drills, the FNP has some nice features, so its a matter of preference/reliability between the two. If you aren't going to practice regularly, go with glock 100%

Glock. 'nuf said.

OK really you should shoot them both (and add the XD into the mix). See how the grip feels to you etc.

Check out glocktalk.com too.

I carry a Glock 20 (10mm) everyday, and it's a great gun. I'm currently in thinking about selling my XD40 Tactical for a G23 for carry use this summer.

The 23 was great. I liked it better than the full compact version because the mag wasn't part of the handle. It did have quite a bark though

You put somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000 dollars in ammo through your 17? I hope you have a sponsor!

How many times have you replaced your springs? Anything else yet? Firing pin? Barrel?
