Shop name

If you opened a shop what would you name it? I will start a poll once we get a final five or so and winner of the final poll gets a one year account (maybe more).

I am kicking around opening a fab/parts shop and if I decide to go ahead with it fully intend to sponsor the contests here. I am not looking to make a ton of money at it, I just want to help get some resources fellow off pavement types with their projects that may not have access to them.

I am thinking about buying a now defunct self storage place or building several garages and renting out garage space for the apartment bound or non garage havin do-it-yourselfer, and having a couple of fully stocked garages with tools that most folks generally don't have access to and have materials (tubing, sheet steel, angle, flat bar, etc..) available as well.

(I know I have had to buy all my tools and such and know how much it costs and honestly I have a bunch of tools that I have only used a few times or less (which blows) and a lot less $$$.)

Another part of the concept is to somehow take care of those people who put time in to help the less "skilled" and have how to sessions every so often for those who want to learn. I have talked to my company's QA/QC/CWI about some welding help, some of the vendors my company uses, and other people I know to help the cause. If there are vendors looming about in here that want to throw some stuff into the hat, well hey I am not going to say no.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas and/or what you think about my concept. Most importantly the name is everything and I give my word that I will take care of the winner and if I can afford it do something for the runners up. As I said this is in the conceptual phase and just some writing on a napkin at the present time. This idea is meant to provide resources to our community and NOT to make me rich

Update: Just talked to Dave at Zone Offroad and it looks like they are on board as soon as we come up with a name and I come up with some paperwork.

Make sure you come up with a way to keep people from stealing your tools or materials. That could become a big problem.

He could attach each tool to a wire and bolt it to the wall.

I get the visual in my head of a dog hitting the end of his leash.

That's a good analogy.

The military already does this, we have shops on base called the Auto Hobby Shop.

You pay for your time in the stall, $2 an hour for a flat stall, $3 for a drive on lift, $4 for a frame lift. At the beginning of the day, you surrender you drivers license to the worker behind the counter.

Basic tools such as wrenches and oil changing supplies will be in a locked tool box at each station, regardless of lift type. Other tools (More expensive things) will be behind the counter and signed out upon request.

When you pay your bill at the end of the day, all tools must be accounted for. If they are not, you pay for the tool or we keep your license.
