elizabeth, My husband suffered the same accident almost 5 years ago this april. Your story sounds exactly the same. He also had the left side of his brain removed and was in a coma. He is now living full time in a brain injury facility due to the extent of his injury.
Lol I didnt know you could live with HALF a Brain!!

Of course you can.... most of them live in a commune commonly called Washington DC.

intrestingly enough you only use about 10% of your brain so it is possible i was just under the opinion that it was evenly dispersed.

More or less it is, but in extreme circumstances involving head injury, one hemisphere of the brain can be removed and the remaining hemisphere will pick up the slack, allowing the person to live a relatively normal life with only half their brain. There are actually plenty of cases where this occurs.

Most of the critical parts of life (like involuntary breathing, digestion, heartbeat, etc) are controlled by the Medulla and brainstem near the base of the skull at the brain/spinal cord interface.

It wouldn't be a very fulfilling "life" but technically, you could "live" like that.

you do use 100% of your brain, but only about 10-15% of it actively at any one time.
