Selling a Jeep - One of the worst experiences

I have had my fair share of purchasing and selling vehicles but selling my Jeep tops them all. I have had loads of calls asking if it is a 4x4, if it has a top, if it has full doors, if it is a V6 and how many miles it has on it. What bothers me is all of these things are CLEARLY stated in both of my ads. I have had close to 15 people call and tell me they are on their way to look at it and never show. In my add it says the price is firm yet I still have people calling up asking how much of the price is negotiable and will I take X for it? My add says the Jeep has never been off road and hasn’t even been driven in the rain for three years yet I have had multiple potential buyers ask if they could take it off road for a test drive...At this point I am not sure if people really are that stupid or if it is just the crowd in my area that buys Jeeps...Whatever it is I will be glad to be done with these idiots when it sells...

This is telling you that you should keep it!

I am kidding.
People are stupid I deal with stupid customers all day long at work.
When I've sold stuff online I've gotten e-mails basically questioning everything already stated in the ad and false interests. Good luck though.

I'd call and ask questions as well if your ad lists your Jeep as a V6.

Man, I know what you are talking about. I finally sold my '95 ZJ and I much have had 20+ calls from people that didn't even seem to read the ad on Craigslist. I put as much detail in as possible just I wouldn't get a bunch of stupid phone calls. Didn't matter. Tons of "How many miles?" "does the 4WD still work?" "Want to trade a dirt bike".
The ones that really pissed me off was the low ballers. "That thing is only worth $1800. You will never get $3000 for it." Also must have had 10 people say "we are on our way! See you in a few." No shows.
Finally a guy showed up that has been shopping for a descent used ZJ. He said he looked at several on Craigslist and just now getting to mine because it was more expensive. Said mine is like new compared to the junk he was looking at. Put $3000 cash in my hand and drove away happy.

I cant wait for that day..I actually had someone tell me he called three banks and no one would loan that amount on the vehicle listed. I found it funny because I called two banks and they both quoted the exact same loan amount and it is 2k over my asking price..I bet they all use the same system but I dont know...

Hang in there it will sell...I put my YJ in the front yard last week and it was gone the next day, took less than 24 hrs to sell. I never even had the chance to list in the Auto Trader as I had planned. It surprised me because I live out in the country and there isn't much traffic out here to see it. He tried to low ball me but I just laughed and he came around to what I wanted. I don't take offense to low ball offers, their just trying to get a good deal.

What sucks is the guy that bought it only lives a mile away so I see it all the time now...

I dealt with the same exact thing when I sold my YJ. I am dreading it when I finally place the ad for my TJ. At least I don't have to sell TJ, like I did with the YJ, so I can tell them to bugger off if they are annoying.

The 2 happiest days in a mans life are the day he buys his jeep and the day he sells his jeep.

I had a very easy transaction with a guy from this forum when I sold my XJ. Met him 1 1/2 hours away and he actually showed up! I got several of those calls as well.
