My dad just moved into a new house in Leesburg, Va which was built in 1850. It is aptly named the "Hidaway House," (yes we know it's spelled wrong) due to the hundreds of vines climbing its sides. On the inside it still has the original hardwood floors from 1850 and is very small. You cannot fit two people in the kitchen.

Anyways, we tried looking up the history of the house but could not find anything. The previous owner said they often heard strange things like furniture moving, footsteps, and one time he claimed that a chair had been moved across the room while he was using the bathroom.

I was a little skeptical, but I'm beginning to believe it now. After we got the U-Haul truck to Hidaway House, my brother drove my dad back to the U-Haul place to pick up his car. I started unloading the truck while they were away, and carried a box upstairs. On my way down the stairs, I was perfectly eye level with a lone light fixture hanging above the landing. I don't know what compelled me to stop and look at it, but as I did, the fixture began swaying back and forth. Not a slight swaying motion either - it was moving about 6 inches side to side. Needless to say I was thoroughly freaked out and waited outside until my dad and brother returned.

Since then my dad has told me 2 boxes were knocked off of shelves and he has heard some footsteps. Very eerie in my opinion.

Anybody have some paranormal experiences of their own?

there is this house behind the broadmoor hotel in Colorado springs that is supposedly haunted. I dont really believe in that stuff but hey a friend dragged me up there. It been sold and bought like 20 times since 1980, my friends mom is a Realtor so the information is accurate. We pulled up the S shaped driveway and immediately I see someone staring out the window above the garage, Im like dude someone lives here lets get out of here. But no...nobody lived there. So we walk up to the side of the house and it all glass windows and door on this side of the house. Now mind you, its been a calm night, no wind or storms or anything of the sort. Well while we are looking in the house I could see the door going to the basement/garage was open, dude the door slammed shut and it got windy as hell as we ran like a scared bunch of school girls. Now I tried reasoning to myself that there was a window open and pressure from the wind closed the door, but the wind was coming from the side of the house we were on and the door clearly closed right before the wind came.

By the way I am freakin myself out here recalling that night, needles to say I have not and will not be going back.

A few instances in old places that I can think of, more so as a child, and many I found logical explanations for, but on the rare occasion, no explanation at all. Except that there was some form of a supernatural presence. IMO, just because a place is haunted doesn't mean it's a bad place, it might turn out to be haunted by good spirits.

If there is something there, maybe try to talk to it/them/he/she/whatever, it certainly won't hurt anything, lol, just keep in mind that it might all be in your head. Have fun.

I had 2 as a child that I remember very clearly. I remember seeing a girl in a white dress walk down our hall way. So I went to see who she was and she was gone. The only thing on that end of the hall was a bathroom and a closet so there was nowhere for her to go. I saw this several times and tried everytime to see where she went but I still have no answers. And one time I was in bed and heard strange noises so I got scared and I put the covers over my head. While the covers were over my face I felt a hand shape start to push on my face. Once I released me I looked and there was nobody there. So I screamed and cried for my mom

I was sitting with my friend in her basement one night and from where we were sitting you could clearly see the bathroom mirror if the door was open.

I see something move in the mirror from the corner of my eye so I look over and I see what can only be described as the hollow shell of a woman's face, so I try talking to it and the first thing I say is "I can see you.." soon as I say this I see the figure move and the door gently shut and, almost like someone you know just wanting more privacy. My friend and I haul *** for upstairs and about 4 minutes later we hear the bathroom door unlock, open, then footsteps that sound like a woman's highheels.


I decided to do some research on the house, just to satisfy my morbid curiousity, and I find a female resident of the house was killed in a car accident on the way to some gala event which had taken place about 20 years earlier on the same day which I had seen the spirit. I look up the obit picture and it was the exact face I had seen in the mirror, same expression and everything, just something was missing from the mirror person...


Thats the first one that comes to mind, I have a few others I'll probably end up sharing, I seem to have a natural ability to pick up on spirits around me...

My dad's best friend through high school worked for the TWRA for about 30 years, and 15 of those years he lived next to a plantation house, that he was deemed caretaker for. That house belonged to a man who had 35 slaves, who he treated really well. He couldn't have kids, and the young African slaves he would teach to read, and give them treats like he would his own children if he had any. His wife had died, and within the year, they believe he maybe slept with one of the slave women, and got syphilis. That made him go crazy, and he started to have crazy hallucinations. One evening they say he woke with a mad fever, woke the slaves in the basement (living quarters), lined them up and beheaded everyone. He killed every slave. They told me when he woke up the next day in the afternoon, and realized what he had done, he cut his own throat.

Now we were able to stay in that house on hunting trips. We would stay about 8-10 times a year for about 10 years. Only one time did we all get spooked. This Plantation house was massive, and we stayed upstairs in the winter, because heat rises. The house had been wired for electricity, but was never turned on. The house had all original furniture, and had some old lamps and things sitting on top. It was really late one night, and there was a light coming from another room. We all jumped up, my dad terrified, because we thought that someone was breaking in. We grab the guns, go a few rooms down to come to an abrupt stop. There were 6 of us staring at amazement. A LAMP WAS TURNED ON WHILE THE PLUG WAS LAYING IN THE FREAKING FLOOR! I never, ever, ever believed in the supernatural until then. Absolutely nothing evil, or horror story, just straight up weird. We have no explanation to this day....

Let's just say that I am more than skeptical when reading these stories. There's always the unexplained movement that can be attributed to wind, house movement, or something. My mother claimed that when she was a child something moved clothes hanging on a line in a drafty attic.

As for the electric light, I received another huge electricity bill yesterday. If any of the helpful spirits want to visit my home and power it without plugging in appliances, then come on over. I need some energy savings. How about running my central air conditioner for free?

I just find it amazing that with all these occurences there is nothing really on video that proves any of this, yes I have seen those ghost hunting shows but most of those get such flaky evidence, I'd like to see something that proves the existance of the paranormal but it's usually some misunderstanding of natural phenomenon or a hoax

Love it, ghost stories just in time for Holloween. No kidding, I and a friend of mine rented a house before I got married. Both of us had seen the same thing but never said anything about it. When sitting on the couch, there was a doorway to an unused bedroom, out of the corner of the eye would be a small object about 2 ft tall move quickly past the door. Seemed to be either a dog or a child. He finally said something about it after I told him about sitting on the couch and right in front of me, on the coffee table, a Mountain Dew can, which I had emptied 10 min. earlier, slowly fell over. Scared the she it out of me, it was like a prank that a child would do. Happened again with a can that had been on the fireplace hearth for days. Again, scared the she it outta me. Those experiences, along with others, cause me to KNOW what some people say is impossible. Seriously.

34 years and I have never seen anything close to paranormal. So I don't believe in any of it. If you really watch those paranormal shows closely you can tell its mostly staged. Notice how the camera always in the right spot.

I grew up in a house built in the late 1800s. We had a few dozen things happen to family over the 30 years we had the house. We also had a Husky mix that was my responsibility so I kept his food up stairs in the haul. The dog would not be up stairs alone at night. One of the things that happened to me was one night I was watching TV with my mom, she was on the couch and I was on the love seat when I felt a hard kick in my back and the love seat slid forward about 10". Also 95% of the time it was exactly 1.30 AM

That's also why you don't hear much about UFO's anymore. Digital video is so crystal clear that fakes are easily revealed. Several years ago only a small percentage of Photoshop users were experts. Now there are so many of them that modified photos are quickly identified. Compare that to decades ago when George Adamski created double exposure UFO photos. It took a laboratory to analyze the camera and film to prove the photos were faked.

When I was eleven years old my parents bought a new house, which naturally came with new carpet. My mom would vacuum the carpet in such a manner as to back out of the room and not leave foot prints.

One particular night I was down with the flu, 102 deg temp. About 1am I had to get something to drink. On my way back from the kitchen, and passing the living room, I saw a figure standing in the middle of the living room dressed in a white flowing robe.

I ran back to bed and threw the covers over my head. In the morning I was feeling alot better. I remembered seeing something but shrugged it off as having a bad dream.

I got out of bed and walked to the living room to watch cartoons, and there in the middle of the living room carpet, freshly vacuumed, were two foot prints. Just two foot prints all by them selves. Nothing leading up to or from.

I have not had experience, but my hometown was founded by 3 spiritualists, and has a spiritualist church in as one of the main attractions. Also, a house right down the street from me was featured on a paranormal show some years back. A friend of mine told me once he went trick-or-treating there as a kid, and noticed a doorway right behind the front door, that has wood trim with fire carved into it. He commented about it and the owner told him that he isn't the first one to mention it, but they couldn't see it themselves.
Another friend can take photos of any TV in his house, turned off, without the use of flash, in pitch dark, and the photos always turn out, and there is always a face in the TV screen. I have not seen the actual photos being taken, but I have seen them published online somewhere. I just don't know the site.
