Rusty's rear leafs wont fit???

Helppppp I'm installing a 4" lift on my 84 waggy. I cannot get the rear leafs to fit as they seem to short. I have the front of both rear leafs bolted in (yes I had to drop the tank) but cannot get the back shackles to reach. I'm beyond frustrated and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Call Rusty's?

Maybe measure your old leafs compared to the new leafs.

I was helping my friend install some Rustys leafs on an XJ and we had the exact same problem. What we had to do was the following...

We kept the shackle attached to the Jeep and put the leaf on it. We then jacked up the axle a bit, until it was touching the top of the front mount. I then had my friend kick the rear shackle forward, while I pulled down on the leaf at the front and slipped the bolt in.

It was tough, but it worked.

That's what we had to do on my buds RC lift as well for his XJ.

Unfortunately with my waggy there is no kicking the back as its not accessible like that. I'm going back tomorrow to try and get it done.

I finished the install last night. Took some convincing but it finally went. Thanks to everyone who offered their suggestions. Here it is with lift on. Off to paint on Monday.

Look forward to seeing the finished project. As you found out the tolerances are tight. :cheers2:
