Runaway Bride

Here in Georgia the media are pelting us repeatedly with the story of the girl who ran out on her wedding to go to Las Vegas with $40 in her pocket, apparently in a panic before she got married.

But wait, this story is still developing, so it is time for... drum roll.... an OFFICE POOL!

What really happened? What will we learn before it is all over?

Here is my best guess as to how this story will continue to develop, because you know the press can never let go of a leg once they bite idown.

Some facts:

* She lived with this guy for five years
* She has a history of running out on past boyfriends that only now is coming to light.
* She left with $40 in her pocket.
* She bought the bus tickets to LV and Albuquerque a week before she ran off
* She met with the wedding planners to make sure everything was still on schedule the morning she ran off
* The cops seized her computers
* The cops called off the search after only a day or so.

Here's what I conclude:

* She stopped feeling the pull of lust three years ago and missed the passion
* She doesn't understand that love is a choice (a verb) - something you consciously decide to do. She's eaten so much Hollywood nonsense that she thinks that love is some feeling that just comes over you like hunger or sleep.
* She's probably addicted to internet chat and has had more than a few inappropriate relationships over the internet
* She has probably been coached by a guy in New Mexico as to how to disappear
* He probably agreed to meet her in LV.
* She probably met him there and missed the hubbub because she was holed up in a hotel with the guy for three days
* They came out and headed south, and she picked up on the news story going national
* She panicked.
* She called home when she got there

She's afraid to get married. That's only part of the problem, though. She's afraid she is going to get caught stepping out with this guy. She went to great lengths to hide her escape from her family - all of them. Even her friends? Makes no sense. You always confide in a friend.

Also, women usually have one foot in the door of the next man before they leave the last one. Husbands find out that wives are leaving a year after wives decide to. Wives find out husbands are leaving before husband has finished making up his mind as to what he wants.

So, it will all come out over the course of the week, I think. We will learn the name of the guy in New Mexico she's been chatting with. We will learn that the cops were suspicious before she called home, because her emails were deleted (but probably not deleted well). And we will find out she met him in LV, which is why she left with only $40.

And then watch the other women come forward to say that this guy has also talked them into meeting him in Las Vegas, and then a book deal will be cut and a movie deal for this guy that has successfully convinced girls to hook up with him in LV on a regular basis through internet chat.

They will call for his head, but he will not have committed any crime. At least not involving this.

But then the press will investigate the guy and figure out he is a convict, and then the police will search his home and find out something else about him.

That's my bet.

So, before this is all over, watch for the media to descend like vultures on the internet boyfriend, and watch the family be further humiliated as their daughter is outed even further.

No. You can vote me a moron only if you also don't care about this story enough that you don't feel the need to point out that I am right or wrong.

Of course, you can think I'm a moron all you want, and I'll fight and die for your right to think it and say it. God Bless America, land of the girls running to Las Vegas.

Anyone have another theory?

I hope they charge her with interrupting the Michael Jackson case. Michael is now happy that this crazy freak woman has stolen some of his thunder in the freak world at least in the short term. Honestly I hope she gets charged with something. And I hope that her fiance' realizes that her monstrously huge eyes are not normal (as in deer in headlight look) and he runs the other way very very fast from her. FRizeak. Michael Jackson planned it all.

Well, there is an alternative theory.

What if she is one of those women attracted to abusive men? Then she'd be in need of some therapy, but maybe she bolts and runs from relationships when she is in fear for her life and things have gotten out of control. She may or may not have had someone waiting for her in LV, but when she got there, and the story went national, that person may have panicked and cut out, leaving her high and dry, to come home to a _monster_.

That sort of shifts the paradigm, doesn't it? Then maybe no one wants to charge her, but instead pity her.

You're right on with your theory. They'll harrass the boyfriend just like they were ready to accuse the fiance of murder. When there are crimes against women and children, men's rights are often pushed aside. The runaway bride comes from a family that runs that town. Her daddy used to be mayor, and her uncle is the fire chief. She won't have any charges pressed against her in Georgia. I hope New Mexico nails her for the phony 911 call claiming she was kidnapped. She will probably get off. A guy would have had the book thrown at him for making a phony 911 call and for breech of contract.(engagement or marriage)
