Road trip to Boston/Maine

Hey guys,

Me and my buddys from college are planning a trip to Boston then Maine for about 2 1/2 weeks. Other than the Sox (im a die hard fan) what do you guys suggest in Maine and or Boston that would be a good time. Ive heard that the lakes in Maine are amazing with cristal blue water, so id like to go snorkleing or what not.

also ive heard that if i go to Maine bring bug spray and an appitite

just seeing if any of you northern east-coasters have any suggestions?

Stop at the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine. Then go up the street to Bob's Clam Hut and get some clam chowder.

I've always liked York beach too. Lots of stuff to do there.

Portland is a cool place. Was just there about 2 weeks ago. Lots of cool restraunts and bars. If you want to see some of the prettiest scenery around, take a harbour tour. It leaves right in front of Three Dollar Deweys.

If you come to Maine you should plan on making a stop at All Wheels offroad park in Lewiston. If you have time you should also make a trip up to Mount Katahdin... It's really nice camping/hiking up there

You really need to go to New Hampshire too. Head up Rt 16 to Conway and North Conway. Spend a few days there hiking and camping then drive over to Maine. Conway is just a few miles from the Maine border.

Lots of cool stuff to do in Maine. Acadia park, Bar Harbor was pretty cool. Mt Katahdin as was previously mentioned. The LL Bean outlet is nice.

You will regret not stopping at Mount Tom. I went when I was up in Mass for a wedding. It is a water park on top of a mountain with a bunch of water slides, wave pool and such. It also has one of the worlds longest "slides." Its not a water slide, but it is a concrete track running approx 2k - 3k feet down the mountain. You take the ski lift to the top of the Mtn. You sit on a one person cart with a stick coming up between your legs. Push forward to release the brake, pull back to slow down. It was such a rush, I would guess you can easily hit 25-30 mph and sitting about 3-4 inches off the ground it feels so much faster...

I found a site that said it closed in 1987? But I was 10 when I was there in 1995 so I know thats not true...

Edit: It's closed...What a shame

Boston, Boston, Boston. Such a great city, and if you don't act like a tourist ****** bag, the locals will take care of you. The Freedom Trail, the Duck Boats, Faniuel Hall. Sports bars and college chicks.

I miss my town.

You should see if they have a Harpoon Fest when you're here. Drink some beer, hot chicks, drink some more beer. If you want to see some really hot chicks, go to Marina Bay in Quincy on Sunday night. I haven't been since I moved back but used to go alot in the summer when I was younger. Little cheesy, but fun with a group.

STAY AWAY FROM BOSTON on September 1!!!!!!!!!! Try to avoid it the day or two before and afterwords also. About 80% of the city moves on that day (me being one of them), so you'll not be able to get anywhere, nor be able to do anything. Just thought you should know, since that's about 2.5 weeks from now

Do a New England brewery tour - Sam Adams, Red Hook, Harpoon, & Wachusett (small brewery in central MA). There's also Magic Hat in Vermont somewhere.
