Im currently waiting on a call from a job in my field of study (medium/heavy truck service) because walmart just aint cuttin it anymore.
All right my bad. Maybe you’re the one employ who knows his store or knows what hes talking about / knows what hes doing.. Every time I have gone to Wal-Mart ask for help, no one will or can help me. They don’t know any thing about their department or they don’t know what other item I’m looking for in another department.

In contrast, when I was in high school, I worked for Safeway (I forgot what they called them out there), but I knew my store inside and out. Wal-Mart employee seem to be there to goof off and talk with their friends. It once took me 20min to get a key made at midnight (don’t ask) b/c some jerk off didn’t know how to work the key duplicator.

Wal-Mart is a LAST resort for me for really. For one, its clear on the other side of town, and its Indian heaven. Every Native with in 200 miles comes to Wal-Mart and brings the whole tribe with them in the back of a F150. They let their kids run around lose in the store and no one dose any thing. They will buy a 99¢ candy bar and break it with their fresh crisp $100 bill they got from the bank that probably came out of my tax dollars. But now I’m ranting about our local dumb drunk Natives, back to Wal-Mart.

The author presents a few good points, but more or less he going WAY above and beyond anything necessary. Yeah, around christmas time I just walk out of a store if the alarm goes off, but thats because it goes off every 5 seconds. I'm not trying to prove some larger point regarding the way large corporations treat the average customer. I have other **** in my bad thats setting it off. If someone wants to chase me down, fine. I will be polite to them, not some snide *******.

To his point about the Wal Mart Garden centers. The reason they have some retard (literally, sometimes) check your reciept is because some of them are open air, like Home Depots. In some cases, if they did not check reciepts it would be viable to walk out of the store with a U-boat full of fertilizer, because one employee is assuming its paid for inside the store.

When I deal with people like him, I had them back their $50 membership fee, and tell them I don't want to see them in my warehouse again.

Done.

Well... while I agree with the guy 100% that things like this are ridiculous...

What he fails to mention is that even though he's paid for his stuff.. he's still on private property while he's in the store. They can ask you to do just about anything they want.

Whether you choose to comply or not is a different story...

Walmart's been sued countless times for false imprisonment (and lost large sums of money) because of their hamfisted approach to dealing with suspected shoplifters. However, Walmart is an extreme case and the guy sounds like a ******.

No one even pays attention to the alarms in Boulder. I can only think of one time where I went back to get something deactivated. Every other time I just walk out. More often then not, they fail to deactivate the security tags.

Or better yet, I buy clothing from a company that has a security tag attached to the shorts/shirts. If you don't cut it off, and wash it in the dryer, it reactivates it. Next time to walk into the store, it goes off

I like where the dude is going. I love people who buck the system. Even more, I enjoy seeing the looks on the faces of the sheep when something out of the ordinary breaks them out of their haze.

I don't mind the receipt checkers though. I think loss control does keep prices down. Or maybe I'm fooling myself there.. who knows...

The one thing I really can't stand is EVERY store I go in to now a days asks for my telephone number when I check out.... I usually say 111-1111. I don't need you tracking when and what I buy.

I also hate that everyone wants you to sign up for their credit cards every time I try to check out. Another finger from me in that situation. I'm to the point where I won't shop at a place that asks my phone number or hassles me to sign up for a credit card or "awards" program.

No Mr. Blockbuster. I don't want to save $5 by spending $100 on your awards program... I just want to rent friggin Teen Wolf 2 you nazi a-hole!!!!!

What about the cases when you are stopped before reaching the scanners at the door at walmart? The greeter asks to see your reciept and you are still 20 feet from the door.

Here the store has to have a sign posted at the entrance if they want to check your bags/receipt. I usually just walk by them, and they don't bother me. If they do stop me, I let them look, and explain to them that they need to post a sign.

If an alarm goes off, I'm not gonna turn around and go back in. If they want to talk to me, they can catch up to me while I'm on my way to the Jeep.

Costco is a little different because you have to buy a membership. When buying that membership you are agreeing to follow the store policies.

The authors an a-hole. Yeah, the security systems are stupid but what's he trying to prove by acting like a jerk. If he wants change, complain to the manager. All he is doing is making someone who has no authority to change the process, miserable. I hope he gets mugged in the parking lot and the security cameras are "pointed in the wrong direction".

I also don't understand why every Wal-mart employee is thought of as some sort of mindless scumbag. Here's a newsflash, idiots work everywhere. If there isn't one where you work, then it's you.

I like how these socially rebellious columnists always seem to have the perfect smarmy remark for every situation impeccably improvised on the spot. At least that's how it's written. Oh and they're so Billy Badass because they can seemingly outwit a retail store employee. [Farva] Hey, look out for these guys! [/Farva]

That whole rant could have been condensed down into a few constructive sentences and got the point across without sounding like a pompous ******bag but he failed because he was too concerned with patting himself on the back for being an anarchist dick. I bet this guy probably also posted an article about how he filled up every vehicle he owned with 93 octane on May 15th.

Aside from major chains whose only goal in sight is the almight dollar, most retail stores will still reserve the right to refuse you service just because they can. You're still on their property and in their store so unless you want to be escorted out emtpy-handed, you'd be wise to adhere to simple policies and procedures.

they will never refuse service if you are buying things, once you bought it you cannot leave empty handed

A paying customer who's only problem is not getting his bags checked as he leaves is not gonna be banned from the store, however that person may build up a reputation as "that *******" and employees will know to not bother, but I doubt any store will ban you for fear of a complaint to corporate (at least where I worked complaints to corporate really did work, and the people complaining usually get what they want

Well that's a different situation if you've already paid for something. I'm talking about walking in, being an assclown to the employees and then expecting a retail transaction like you're some sort of upstanding, well-behaved customer.

It varies again between large corporations and non. Big places will bend over backwards to cater to the worst customer on the planet in fear of being reprimaneded from higher-ups while some places will have the rare manager who will come out and threaten to kick some tail for trying to foul up the business.

For example, say some old hag slapped you in the face with a bag of chicken wings you just sold her...

True, and he then takes his membership fees and goes somewhere else to shop, you on the other hand are still there stuck working in a wharehouse store with all the other retards who couldn't get hired at Target.

I've never stopped when one of those stupid alarms go off, if they failed to find the sensor at the checkout counter it's their fault and they can follow me to my truck to locate it.
