The Rifle Shooter's Thread

Did a search and didn't find a thread dedicated to rifle shooting.

So I submit a request to those of you who love to shoot your rifles, to post up your favorite rifle and/or round to fire. Bragging rights are promoted

I'll start - call me old fashion but I absolutely love shooting the M1A1 carbine. Shot in ROTC and automatically fell in love. It's outdated for sure, but it feels absolutely great firing the rounds.

Ha I've always wanted to shoot one of those. Maybe one day I'll find a practical reason to own one

One rifle I really enjoy is the K98 Mauser my grandfather-in-law gave me. It feels really solid and has great accuracy with its iron sights.

Another favorite is the British Lee-Enfield Mark I "Bulldog." Bored out to 308 it kicks some ***.

for vintage military rifles.

I have a Remington 270 semi auto. I like it. I can shoot it all day and not worry about being sore from the larger guns, but has plenty of power to stop any deer in my way. Only thing I don't like is that it is barrel heavy compared to most guns i've held so shooting standing up is kind of a pain in the ***.

The only rifle I personally own is a Savage MarkII .22lr bolt action. It has a small scope and is a blast to shoot. When I get out on my own, (remember, I am only 17) I hope to pick up a few rifles, one being an M1A1 carbine like above, they are very cool.

My favorite is my elk rifle, .300 weatherby mag 6-20 grand slam scope. Second is my .30-06 ruger m77 mark II with 4-16 weaver. both shoot great. I killed an elk at 412 yards with the .300 weatherby last year, great caliber for long range shooting at big animals.

My newest addition:

It's a R700 SPS Tactical .308. So far with just 150gr Fed. Power Shoks, I've been shooting about .6-.7 MOA at 330yds. Once I get my handloading operation up and running I'll make up some Federal Gold Medal Match clones and see how she does. The scope is a Nikon Prostaff 3x9x40 with the BDC reticle, which is suprisingly accurate. I'll probably be changing it out in the near future for something with a bit more magnification, and a mil-dot reticle. Target turrets would be a plus too...
