RANT: idiots who drive pickups who do not tie down cargo...
So yeah, driving home from work and this idiot in a red >2000 dodge ram flys by me in opposing lane. Usually this isnt a problem. The idiot forgot to tie down the stack of two by fours in his bed!!!! AS he drives by, two two by fours become airborn. One smacks my windshield, cracking it, the other smacks my window frame, stripping the paint off... Get this, the f***er doesnt even pull over to get his piece of wood or see if the jeep was ok... he just continues to drive off like nothing happened!
Body shop quotes me 300 not including glass... (glass is covered under insurance) Insurance company says flying objects do not constitute hit and run... such BS Anyway, my rant is over... stupid BS.... ![]()

Happened to my aunt a few years ago, she had a pole go through her windshield

Had a Dodge Duallie pulling a trailer full of body panels behind it driving directly in front of me. Idiot did not secure his load either, or at least he did not do it well enough to secure all the cargo. low and behold, a rear cargo door (like the ones on a minivan) flew up and landed right in front of me. Swerved around it, but could have been a lot worse.
He kept driving too....ididot probably got docked a weeks pay for losing that door. Got his plates and turned him in, but never heard anything back.

I agree and hate it also. That is one law in WA state I agree with. Securing your load.

At least you got some 2x4s out of it though.
Seriously though, I work at Home Depot and you'd be amazed at some of the people that drive off with stuff. What's worse is that all we have is some cheap string and they expect that stuff to hold doors, whole fence panels, 4x8s, etc. I hate it when somebody comes in and buys something like two doors or a lawn mower and expect it to fit into a Honda Civic and the string is the only thing holding it on.

I lost a stack of OSB last summer. Brand new tie-down snapped as I was turning a corner and they spun out like a deck of cards. Fun!

I was almost hit by a refrigerator once. The guy had it standing up in the back of his truck. He had taken the doors off the fridge like you're supposed to, but didn't have a single strap holding it down. I came up behind him on the interstate and was stuck behind him for a bit because of traffic. Suddenly I guess a gust of wind from a semi or something picked that fridge up out of the bed and over the tail gate. It hit the ground just in front of me, but it hit just the right way and tumbled one way as I swerved the other barely missing it. That guy never even slowed down!

A guy lost a 10' piece of 3" PVC in front of me yesterday. It was spinning in circles as it slid in front of me to the shoulder.
