Rain with no rear windows

How wet do you get when driving with the top up and front windows on, but no rear windows? I've been rolling like this (top down, but windows in the trunk) hoping it does not rain, but if it does I'd like to know how bad it is.

rain and water from the road seems to get sucked in when riding this way. I always have to clean the windshield and rear view when I stop. It's pretty annoying, but I don't get too wet...just the back of my head!

i ran all summer (may-october) with no rear windows.. just soft doors and the soft top.. never had a problem... only thing ya gotta do is fold the seats forward when its parked in a storm, never had aproblem with water on windshield or anything.. dist did accumulate on the dash a lot quicker (i do a lot of gravel roads on the way to work)

i even ran mud trails like that...

PS: its my DD and never once did i need, or want back windows.. id di make a plywood tonneau cover to cover the bed (out of site out of mind, and it kept my stuff dry, for the most part)

I haven't had the back windows in for the past 2 months. I pulled the carpet and drain plugs and haven't had an issue.

I would imagine the carpet would get a bit musty if you leave it in..

Cracking the door windows or turning on the exhaust vent full blast and on outside air seems to help keep some of the mist from being sucked in.

Cool thanks for the tips guys! I plan on rolling top down all year. I bought a cheap jacket i can leave in the jeep for the cold mornings when I'm heading out at 6:45am, but its still T-shirt and top down weather during the day.

With the back window out and the side windows up you will get alot of spray coming in. Windshield will get wet.

One other thing to remember: your exhuast gas will also visit you and can cause you to become drowsy as you get oxygen deprived. If you read the owners manual they warn against this exact thing. Turning on the vent isn't enough to keep the air from being drawn in from the rear.

i drove with the 2 sides out and the rear in (left them home, but had the rear rolled up) for 45 minutes in some steady rain...

my nephew in the child seat in the back was dry and the inside of the jeep wassnt wet (for the most part), windshield and me stayed 100% dry. I have hard doors that were rolled up. that was going like 75 down the thruway.

I run with the rear window flopped in on top the storage box; great flow thru in hot weather, and less noise/turbulence than just rolling down a front window.

I've never noted any issues with exhaust gas inside, but a front window down/blower on is a good idea. I can't smell any exhaust inside.

Got a fair amount of water in a sudden shower, including on the windshield. All comes down to how fussy you are about keeping the inside dry.

Thats with only the rear window out, not all 3 rear windows.. even then, its minimal.. youll inhale more exhaust walking a city street on a hot day... its all about liability due to possibility... every automobile manual i've eever read warns against sitting in running car while in park with the windows down..

Same here. I run from May-October every year like this. I never get water up front, and I don't fold my seats forward when parked either. This year I ran without the back seat also since it hardly gets used. The back seat and rear windows will probably go back in/on this weekend.

I ran most of the summer and from August to the third week in November with no doors and no back windows. Sometimes I'd put the top up to keep the interior from getting completely soaked, but after a while I just started keeping a cheap towel in the Jeep to throw over the steering column and the CB and I'd fold the seats forward to keep them from getting soaked. I'm getting a mesh safari top for Christmas to put on the Jeep as soon as it gets warm. Will leave the doors off and will remove the top for the summer.

There is less trouble with blowback once the water turns to snow(rear window out still)
