iw as jsut wonderin how many of oyu have remote control cars out there? adn what kind they are? we have a nitro rustler, adn little kyosho electric one thats like 10 years old and my cousins nitro buggy. I jsut ordered an e-maxx it should be here tuesday
I do I do, that is where the RC in my name comes from. I have a Team Associated RC10GT, RC10T2, RC10T3, RC10B3, RC10TC3, and a Tamiya Super Blackfoot. I plan on getting back into racing and will be racing the GT.
Not to sound mean but Radio Shack r/c cars are not the same. Sure they are fun but the ones Cap'n and I have are expensive and can be modded like crazy.
i gots a hummer lookalike from radioshack, and it is fast as **** (maybe 30 mph or so) with two gears, fun to drive, but the damn battery keeps wearing out so fast.
I have a Team Associated RC10T3, but i broke the steering box thing and I havent gotten around to replacing it yet... I really need to, but i forget about it until i really wanna drive it
I have a basket case T-Maxx.....my winter prodject is gonna be putting it back together and put a bigger motor in it. I have one of the older ones with the .15 motor in it. I hate a love/hate relationship with it. I enjoy running it, but I have prolly spent $500 bucks for gas money running back and forth to the hobby shop for replacement parts.......everytime I run it something breaks. I started replacing plastic parts with aluminum and turned it into a heavy little beast that cant get out of its own way
I had a Kyosho Big Boss I think it was. One winter though, I was driving on the snow/ice and ended up crashing it into the curb. Broke the plasitc wheel hubs and shock tower assembly, and found out it was dicontinued so I couldn't get parts.
I then got a Tamiya Super Hornet. Put in a Rooster ESC and new motor, can't remember what I had, but it kept up with my brothers RC10. If it wasn't plastic and didn't bottom out when given gas, I could probably have beat him. I should drag that thing out of my closet....
Well I never thought of getting one until I read this thread
Now today I went out and got a TRAXXAS Rustler ready to run. It's pretty fun, I got 2 batteries and bought the 15 min battery charger. This is a cool little truck for a beginner like me !
Congratulations on buying a truck. I have a bit of advice for you, when you are charging the packs charge them until they get slightly warm and before you recharge them make sure you run them down as much as you can and wait overnight until you charge them again to give the cells a chance to rest. Good luck.

i agree, they are expensive!!!!! and there are a lot of aftermarket parts for them. i'm not against radio shack r/c cars. they can be fun to just mess around witha dn when they break jsut throw them away and get another.
Just because the timer has a maximum setting of 15 minutes doesn't mean that is all the batteries need to charge for. I have used those chargers before and they usually don't fully charge a pack in just 15 minutes because the current they are charging at is usually just 1 amp. Do like a said before and charge them until they get slightly warm, so you may need to reset the timer a few times, and record how long each pack takes to charge. The next time you go and charge each pack you will know how long you have to have them on the charger for so you don't have to sit around and watch them each time. A better but more expensive charger is called a peak charger where the charger shuts of automatically when the packs are fully charged. I used a timer charger when I first started out, the same one you have in fact, and didn't find out how to properly charge the batteries on it until much later.
How long should each pack last? Mine are 3000 MA and they are lasting for approx. 12 mins each ... OH BTW have you seen this web site? http://www.swami-rc.com/ they have some pretty good footage of my rustler hopped up!
i don't know how long bat. packs last on other cars but on an e-maxx i heard a 3000 will last about that long.
our kyosho electric has a 15 minute charger and once it gets to 10 minutes left i put it back at 15 adn thats about as long as they take
xj99, looks like you've done a lot of work on your car, but i was wondering....
