PS3 / XBOX online gaming ?

PS3 / XBOX online gaming ?

I'm almost sure this is a stupid question, but,

When playing a game online like Bioshock that is available on all systems am I only playing against other PS3 players, or XBOX guys also?

I'd assume the online networks are seperate, but, then again, the online play is hosted by the game developer right?

I own it, it does not promote online enabled gameplay. end of story. Pictures lie.

The picture does not lie. The 'XBOX LIVE' annotation just means it has online content available for it, namely downloadable elements. It doesn't automatically mean a game is multiplayer.

I know this, & you know this, we're both gamers, but I was attempting to simplify for the masses.

On PS3, I think it's just the developer sites. For Xbox, it's XBL that you actually go to. The host is actually one of the players, so if you stop playing in the middle of the game, you might be the host and screw everyone that was playing.

PS3 doesn't have as many people online as Xbox, so matchmaking is a little slower, but it's not that bad. Since it's wireless, I also see a lot more crappier connections on PS3 than I do XBL. I like XBL a lot better. PS is free, and XB is $50 a year. The PS Home thing is kind of cool, but it's just a new way to charge you for stuff. You can go to the mall and buy clothes for your little avatar, and they charge you for each item. It's kind of a waste of HD space if you ask me. You can go to the little dance area, and dance. It was cool for like the first 5 minutes, then it got old and dumb. XBL is just meat and potatoes.

User interface of PS3 is a lot more confusing, or there is a lot more to it. If you need something, you really have to hunt for it. When you do updates, you have to hunt for the update screen then manually do it. You might be able to auto update, but I haven't found it yet. Updates also take a long time on PS3. Xbox updates are quicker for the same games for some reason, and that's not a connection problem.

This isn't me hating on the PS3. Just an honest opinion. They each have their good and bad, but for online, I'd have to give it to the XB.

Update the PS3 by d/l from your PC to a USB disk - MUCH faster.

I haven't had problems finding things in the PS3 menu at all, and I've used the Xbox as well. I DO with PS3 had more gaming servers...

Keep moving forward. But keep an eye on history, for if you don't, you are doomed to repeat it.

I like the PS3 interface over the new Xbox Wii/PS3 rip off interface. The old Blade interface was great though! I've only done Live on my Xbox, but it's always enjoyable. I try to play Hali 3 online at least once from Friday to Sunday. Anybody know if copying the disc to the drive will somehow let me play Halo 3 campaigns again? Stupid disc scratching garbage!!! I'm happy with it besides that. Just picked up Fable 2 yesterday also!

You didn't read the rest of what I said, did you?

If you could buy guns, and shoot the other people, it would be worth the 3 gigs or so.
