I chose hunting caliber rifle but I would have the swapable shotgun barrel/rifled barrel. Best of both worlds.

depends on what the 'poop' is....am i up to my neck in it? then i want the Dana 70. if it's coming at me in a threatening manner, then i'll take the "AK". and if it really IS poop and there really IS a fan, then i want to just be standing next to the electrical switch......

AK/SKS. They don't jam very easily and the round is very heavy. A .223 could hit a leaf and fly way of trajectory, plus ARs have to be kept clean or they jam easily. You could drop an AK in the mud, let it dry out, and still fire it.

I'd take my XD .45 ACP all day as long as I had plenty of my Corbon DPX +Ps for it.

My 870. Tough, reliable gun you can easily modify. Plus, with shotguns, there are tons of variations of rounds you can use: slugs, buckshot, birdshot, 2.75" shells, 3" shells, 3.5" shells, etc.

Depends on the "poop" BUT My Remington 700 30-06 is my first choice of rifle. Mainly because of its acuracy/ dependability and I have a butt load of ammunition

I think the biggest factor is availability of ammo, also some clarification on what exactly this SHTF is would help.
