Pink dots/rash on English Bulldog's belly
Noticed what looks like a type of rash on my 6 month old English Bulldog's belly today. Pink area with a lot of pink dots, they are not bumps. Just wondering what it may be, any concern etc
Thanks, Google didn't help much

Unless she got into something, nothing has been changed with her expect she got a plastic kiddy pool to play on(she'll sink in a big pool)
Could she be allergic to the plastic?

Remember when you were a kid and you swam with a plastic tube for too long, it would give you a rash on your belly. Probably the same deal from jumping over the edge.

How old is she? Could be a lot of things. A pic would help as it's hard enough to diagnose something like that over the internet WITH a pic. Does she itch? could be anything from allergies to fungal infection to sun burn.

Sounds like a question for your vet. He'd probably be far better to diagnose it than internet vets.

Definitely. I run a dog forum on Border Collies and we get these questions daily and asking a vet in person is the obvious best route. Or you can see if it goes away in a week and if not go to the vet then and he'll either recognize it right away or take a skin scraping. If it continues to get worse in a day or two though go to the vet asap to save yourself more time treating it.

Thanks for the help everyone, it looks like it may be clearing up but I'm going to get in touch with my brother and get the vets number and call just to be sure. No itching, she's acting fine.
Thanks all

English Bulldogs
Scratching is a very common symptom in dogs, and you as an owner should aim to nip it in the bud early before self trauma causes secondary injuries to your dog. However, before wondering whether your dog could have an allergy, you must rule out the common parasitic (fleas and mites), bacterial (hot spots) and fungal (ringworm and yeast) infections. See my article Is your Dog Scratching to explore these in greater detail.

Aren't bulldogs more prone to skin conditions anyway?

Since you mentioned the pool, I'm guessing that she was outside for a longer period than usual. Since you are in Tampa, I'm guessing it's really hot outside. Since she is a English Bulldog, and they are prone to such anyway, I'm guessing it's a heat rash. If she has no itching, and no other symptoms, don't waste a ton of money going to the vet just yet. Keep a eye on her for a day or two, and don't let her go out for extended periods and see if it clears up. If it does, you'll know it was a heat rash. If that's the case, keep some baby powder on hand, and rub her down with it after she comes back in when it's really hot out, especially in her skin folds. Nothing against vets, but they will gladly take your money when they already have a pretty good idea there isn't much wrong with your mutt. They gotta make a living, pay their overhead, and pay off student loans...
