Picture of my 2012 JKUR under the Milky Way

I went out to Joshua Tree National Park to do some celestial photography, and decided I needed a picture of my Jeep with the Milky Way above. Just thought I'd share it with ya'll...

None, it was only a 20 sec exposure. The camera was tripod mounted. There is a tiny bit of blur, streaking, in the stars, due to the earths rotation, but it's only realy visable if you zoom in on the picture.

cool, I didnt know you could get the milky way to show up with only a 20 sec. exposure. do you have to be at high elevation and what kind of ISO were you using?

Settings were...

ISO 3200
f/2.8
20 sec

I don't know what the altitude is at Joshua Tree, but you could look it up.

Great pictures. I love night pictures when the stars are out. I haven't tried the painting method yet, and I need a better tripod.
