Parking technique

When you park a manual transmission vehicle do you first release the brake pedal with the trans in a gear and let the car roll against the gears and then set the emergency brake or vise versa? Also my driveway has a downhill grade to it sloping down to the front of the car. When I park on it I put the transmission in reverse rather than a forward gear. I am guessing that the vehicle wouldn't be able to roll forward when in reverse gear. I also set the parking brake, but my Jeep's parking brake cables are stretched and it doesn't hold as firm it should.

I don't use the parking brake when driving manual but I do when I'm driving auto. Parked on a hill once and got the Taurus stuck in park. Last time for that.

That right there is why you should always set it before you take your foot off the brake, and release it only after you've shifted back into gear. I'm pretty good about it on hills when I'm in the Rover (auto), but I'm way too confident about the Jeep staying in gear when I park it. I need to use the ebrake more in the Jeep. It's easy to adjust, by the way, if the cable is loose...

I've been soaking the nut that holds the cable in PB for the past few days to try and loosen the thing up... I sprayed it before I went into class today in hopes it would be loose by the time I got home... Class is out now so we'll see if the PB fairies worked their magic...

Only because **** is censored. I figured if at least some feces-related word that isn't censored was used it would be more funny.

And actually it was The 40 Year Old Virgin I was thinking of, not Grandma's Boy. Watched 'em both this weekend; got a little confused there...
