When was McCain AWOL? I hope you're not talking about the years he was locked up in a POW camp, that would be quite a outrageous statement of ignorance.

I assume everyone criticizing his lack of military service actually has served

Back55 09-09-2008 09:19 PM

Where is it written that you have to join the military to be commander-in-chief?

I have... still serving.

But I wouldn't go so far as to say I slam him for lack of service - there are millions of great americans that have never put on a uniform.

I have different reasons to support McCain.

13 years and counting.

As far as I'm concerned, none of the recent presidenst had an outstanding military record :shhh:

Personally, I beleive that we shouldn't be voting for president. I'd rather vote for their sectaries. None of the presidential canaditates (past, present, or future) will promote anything other than opposing the other side.

Obama suggested his decision not to enlist was an issue of timing, not service. "I graduated in 1979. The Vietnam War had come to an end. We weren’t engaged in an active military conflict at that point. And so, it’s not an option that I ever decided to pursue," he said.
Timing??? Get freak'n real!!! The war was basically over Jan '73. Gee, that must have been a tough call to "not pursue" since the war was over 6 years earlier. :rtft: :rolleyes:
This guy must think the American people are really stupid.
