Obama's KGB

Just read an article talking about Obama wanting an internal civilian security force that is just as powerful and well funded as the US Military. Seems like one more step towards the U.S.S.A to me.

Isn't that what the national guard does, except they're funded/controlled by the states?

Isn't that the exact type of militia that all the 2nd amendment/"original intent" purists are always talking about?

It's not enough to bash in heads, you've got to bash in minds.

lots of indictments in this article, yet no worry about him establishing some sort of secret police force

Quote:
The range of his community service initiatives was outlined in an earlier American Thinker article. In his campaign document entitled "The Blueprint for Change: Barack Obama's Plan For America," Obama's "Service" section runs a close second to "Education" in complexity. But, with his Colorado Springs' statement, it grabbed first place in its projected costs to taxpayers. Obama did the cost projection himself.

He plans to double the Peace Corps' budget by 2011, and expand AmeriCorps, USA Freedom Corps, VISTA, YouthBuild Program, and the Senior Corps. Plus, he proposes to form a Classroom Corps, Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, Veterans Corps, Homeland Security Corps, Global Energy Corps, and a Green Jobs Corps. Here a corps - there a corps - everywhere a corps corps.

So it made sense in Colorado Springs when he said his call to community service "will be a central cause of my presidency." He couldn't be clearer in signaling his intentions, including a Social Investment Fund Network to link local non-profits with the federal government.

The entire plan is breathtaking in its scope. But it does not, as at least one internet writer has suggested, portend a "giant police force." It would be easier to rebut if it did. As it is, it's silly stuff born of naively fanciful dreams.

Senator Obama aims to tap into the already active volunteerism of millions of Americans and recruit them to become cogs in a gigantic government machine grinding out his social re-engineering agenda. It's Orwellian-like, with a novice social activist's mentality at the helm. In his speech he said,

"Now I know what the cynics will say. I've heard from them all my life."

Has he? Well, given his absence of noteworthy community organizational achievements, perhaps he might have done more listening to the "cynics" for constructive criticism.

The militia was supposed to be able to be called on by the federal govt, but was to be controlled by the state. If the information out there is correct, this security force would answer to the administration.

Did it work in Nazi Germany and Communist Russia?

Its a logical link between the two. This kind of "security force" has been used in many different countries, but none of them a "free" country like the USA is supposed to be. Cuba, the Soviet Union, China, Venezuela, North Korea, all those countries have "internal security forces", is that who we should strive to be like.

I'm surprised it took that long.

"Sandstorms inflict damage of about $540 million per year, and losses of crops and forests due to acid rain amount to about $730 million per year. More serious are the $6 billion costs of the "green wall" of trees being built to shield Beijing against sand and dust, and the $7 billion per year of losses created by pest species. We enter the zone of impressive numbers when we consider the onetime cost of the 1996 floods ($27 billion, but still cheaper than the 1998 floods), the annual direct losses due to desertification ($42 billion), and the annual losses due to water and air pollution ($54 billion). The combination of the latter two items alone costs China the equivalent of 14% of its GDP each year." - Jared Diamond, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed

No states do anymore. It's been that way since 1903, I think.

What is startling is the comprehensive leftist policies and the breadth he is moving toward at astounding pace. His mantra that America elected him to make change is hallow when 70% of the country are center right. He will have four years but no doubt lose in a Carteresque fashion.

His ego fails him.
