obama and gun control...

Is there a connection?

Is this just a coincidence?

Well...

The wife and I were at the local Wally world the other day getting dog and cat supplies. We worked our way to the far side of the store, avoiding the long lines at the main check out, heading to sporting goods to check out b/c typically there is typically little wait there. As usual, there was no one in line, so as we approached I thought I'd pick up some .40 cal. while we were there. As I walked up the the cashier, I'm looking at the display case and I exaggerate not. THE CUPBOARD WAS BARE!!! I mean nothing 'cept a couple box's of .22's. I ask "what's up with this?", thinking maybe they were gona stop selling ammo at this lo-cal. Not the case. The guy tells me ever since the election of obama, all their ammo has been selling off the shelf weekly! Interesting! Very interesting!
Just a coincidence>???
Thoughts?

My father-in-law is a likely candidate for one of their customers.
We were over at his house last night and he wanted to show me his new AK he just got. After seeing how impressed I was, he decided to open his gun safe to me...OMFG, can you say "militant". All I know is that, if zombies DO attack, I'm making a bee-line straight to his friggin' armory--I mean, house.
He has 1 7mag, 2 AKs, 3 12-gauges, 2 30-06's, 4 223's, 3 SKS's, 5 .357 revolvers, 2 .44's, 1 .38, and that's all I remember. Plus, he has to have at least 2 magazine's, already stuffed, for each magazine-fed rifle, and I didn't count how many boxes of ammo he had.
Then he's got a display case in the living room with 6 other rifles, although I think those are more for collection-sake...I dont' think he fires those.
I knew he had "some" guns, but I had no idea to what extent.
All I know is I am NOT doing the wifey wrong...

Luck comes to those well prepared. I have set aside some tax money for a few more lead throwers myself. ( and for any gov looking, since I'm sure Obama and gun will come up on some search I sold them to Ole Gregg after I bought em ) So no guns at my house

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

My local sporting goods shop (and the only place I'd consider a 'gun shop' in the area) can't keep ammo in stock either. Firearms are flying over the counter as well. They used to stock no less than 6 AR's at all times. Ever since November they can't keep even one in stock for more than a day. Customers call every morning

ammo is really scarce here also.

I have been lucky and both times I went to bass pro lately they had 2 boxes of 9mm left.

I have been putting in orders with cabelas online and then when ammo comes in I just go pick it up.

This has been my experience as well. We had some fun down at the range the other weekend and have been unable to replace what we fired off. All of our local gunshops are out nearly everything. Even www.ammoman.com (I used to buy bulk ammo there in the past) is pretty well dry.

It's still not as bad as Nov/Dec 1999 but it's very frustrating.

I've got $10 on representatives from the NRA all got together with Obama a year or two ago and said something like 'Ok, we've hit kind of a slum in sales recently, and ownership is kinda slipping. We'll give you a whole mess of money if you put the fear into people.'

And he did, and gun manufacturers are all doing Scrooge McDuck-esque swan dives into massive piles of money.

Realistically it can be kept for many years in a dry temp controlled environment but I wouldn't trust ammo over a couple years old in something that I'm using for self defense, 3 years would be my max.

You lost $10 then. If what you say was true, then the manufacturers would have had the supply to satisfy the demand. They won't make money if they don't have anything to sell.

And people aren't stupid, they've done their research and they know the type of plans that Obama and his buddies have for the gun/ammo industry.

You simple can't screw over a country's population that is this well armed until you begin to disarm it somehow.

I feel soiled and dirty from having gone to their website, but here is a gloating report in .pdf format from Sarah Brady's so-called "Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence" (AKA "Gun Control, Inc.) regarding the outcome of the election: http://www.bradycenter.org/xshare/pdf/reports/guns-2008election.pdf

A quick Google of Obama, Biden, Shumer, Clinton, Pelosi, ad nausem will soon provide everything you'd want to know about our current administration's views on the Second Amendment and gun rights.

America wanted "change", and "change" is coming. Lock and load.

From the NRA website http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=4430 :

Rumors and the Economic Stimulus Bill

Friday, February 13, 2009

We have been hearing many rumors, and receiving many inquiries, about "buried" provisions in the federal economic stimulus bill that would negatively affect our Second Amendment rights. People have claimed the bill would designate interstate highways as national parks, or impose ammunition encoding and new ammunition taxes. Fortunately, and contrary to what you may have heard, there are no provisions in this bill prohibiting firearms or ammunition anywhere, or for anyone.

The only reference in the bill to firearms is a provision authorizing funds for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' (BATFE) "Project Gunrunner," which is a program that enforces existing laws to reduce smuggling of firearms from the United States to Mexico. This program imposes no new restrictions on gun owners, and if it did, we can assure you we would take swift action.

Needless to say, NRA, as a single-issue organization, takes no position on the economic stimulus legislation as a whole.

For more information and to view the legislation yourself, you can visit http://www.readthestimulus.org/. The site features a convenient search function and covers every version of the legislation.
I got a call from a friend Friday night saying this 500% ammo tax was in the stimulus package advising I should buy ammo now. After a couple minutes of research I found the info above.
