A nice weekend ended in a tragedy

I was having a wonderful weekend in my garden, with my wife and the two dogs.

Saturday evening, a hot air balloon went by.

My scottisch colley Laika is always very angry with them, and starts running and barking.

and now, she suddenly fell down, her legs still moving, but her heart gave up.

I saw it happen, and 2 seconds later already tried heart massage and did everything I could, but unfortunatly I lost one of my dearest friends...

We have a lot to tell, my little girl and I, and now she's gone... I'm not feeling very well now...

In this older topic, you can still see her on the beach...: click

My condolences, I know how you feel. Yesterday I came home from working with a friend. Went up to feed our 2 German Shepherds. Bear was laying down by the fence. He had died during the day while I was gone. Luckily my wife wasn't the one to find him. I put him in a nice place up the hill from the house near our other German Shepherd. Our remaining GSD Dakota is doing pretty good, and getting some extra attention from me today.

She was only 8 ...

Problem is, my other dog, the German Shepherd, is now very sad that he lost his compagnion...

He's looking for her, and I showed her to him when she was lying in my garage, but he doesn't get it...

He's waiting for her, and expecting her to jump up and play with him ...

So sad ...

And tonight he was howling...

In december my 13 year-old Shepherd walked up to me so she could die in my arms after cancer ran through her lungs and a mass closed her throat. One of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with, and the other dog (a St. Bernard) mourned her for almost a month. They feel loss and grieve just like we do...just give him time and he'll bounce back. Sorry for your loss, I understand completely.

Thanks guys

Nothing more terrific than driving your best friend to the vet's in a body bag...

8 years we played together
8 years she awaited me in the morning at the breakfast table
and in the evening for dinner
8 years we walked the woods and had fun together

Never new this kind of loss was so hard to deal with.

But thanks anyway for your support.
