The funny thing is going to be the people who really know nothing blaming this on the assault weapons ban expiring.

I say if you want better gun control you should work on your aim.

Wow I didn't relize it was a 9mm. That makes it a little bad on how no one stopped him. I would have to say he had to reload at least 4 times. Damm

An armed society is a polite society.
That being said, IMO most states hand out CCW's with little thought. Here in Pennsylvania, anyone 21 years or older can head down to the local county courthouse, apply for a permit and $18 (if memory serves me, it was $18) later, they get to walk out with a freshly printed CCW card. No groupings or other such qualifying required, no firearms safety class, no IDPA or other such leauge. Nada. And just about anyone out there can get a out of state permit from Florida and Virginia, again, nothing required. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for that. Atleast with a Virginia or Florida permit, I can have reciprocity with my neighboring state of Ohio as Ohio does not recognize my PA permit. It's a flat out ***** to carry in Ohio, they limit their concealed to such an extreme that you might as well simply not carry, or risk a 4th degree felony. Anyhow, my point, shootings like the VT shooting are far to common. Should a responsible adult who has gone through the appropriate training (and kept up on it!) had a concealed weapon in any mass shooting like the VT incident, there would be far more inoccent people alive today, IMO.

some friends and i went to a local gun shop today, and i was talking to a guy working there who is a retired police officer for the town we were in, and we were talking about how this incident is going to really feed the anti-gun crowd. and hes right. those kinda of people dont realize, that if just one person in the area of the gun shots was able to carry his own gun, most likely, dozens of lives could have been saved. like the guy said i was talking to, if they try to ban guns, they might as well ban the car that got him there.
i know this is an old saying, but i think its a good point, its not the gun that kills people, its the person behind the gun, pulling the trigger. theres always going to be crazy people out there, like the guy at VT, and people like that, no matter what kinda ban gets thown at us, will find a way to get a gun. if he is planning on killing dozens of people, he isnt going to care if he has to break a law to get a gun in a couple weeks, im going out for my CCW. hopefully ill never have to use it, but ill be ready if i do

You may want to be carefull when you decide to use that CCW right. You may be behind bars, in this country. Be carefull if that time does come.

Who was it that said people who would trade liberty for safety deserve neither. Was that ben franklin. Of course I'm just an uneducated gun nut. What do I know. I do think the people who argue that people are too stupid to be responsible for themselves are too ignorant to understand the more important principle that i believe everyone can agree on. The government and law enforcement cannot protect you. Only you can. When the government begins to say that you, the people of america, are too stupid to defend yourselves, then everything this country was founded on is dead. Remember the government is supposed to be of the people and for the people. The greatest criminals are those who would take away someones right to lawfully defend themselves. As a practical matter, even if the gun grabbing liberals were to ban all legal firearms, you really think that every black market firearm and otherwise previously legal firearm is suddenly going to be destroyed and the only people having guns are the police. Are these liberals so ignorant to think that homicidal maniacs are going to say, gee, I could kill a bunch of people with my illegal firearm today, but because of this new federal law, I better not. You simply cannot remove firearms from the market at this point; it would be about as effective as stopping the flow of drugs from mexico. Especially when law abiding people who want nothing more than to defend their own family tell the government "over my dead body."
That being said, with all these guns out there, is it really wise to disarm otherwise law abiding citizens for nothing more than political gain so that only the bad guys have guns. I say, so what if people get harmed in the cross fire if they are going to be slaughtered anyways, at least people died on their feet. Sure there will be mistakes, but at least people can make their own decisions about their own safety, and dont have to rely on our corrupt and incompetant legislators. |

I'm sure if I used it with good enough reason, I would be cuffed and stuffed until the investigation was over and they saw I would had reason enough to use it. I'd rather be behind bars knowing I defended myself than other instead of me being dead or others being dead that I could've helped.
