Whether you want to admit it or not, guns are the solution to these kinds of problems. Probably not in the hands of every citizen but certainly in the hands of those with parents responsible enough to teach safety and procedure.

Or maybe not in the hands of the student body but certainly in the hands of the faculty or armed security officers. That can of mace and ticket book aren’t going to get them too far.

To the guy who used the example of a girlfriend getting gangbanged by the lacross team… what does a CHL have to do with wanting vengeance? If my girlfriend gets gang raped by anyone they are all going to die whether I have a permit or not.

Many lives could have EASILY been saved if there had been so much as one or two people responsible enough to protect themselves.

The whole situation is simply FUBAR.

I agree 100% with the OP. All it would have taken was one "good guy" to be packing to take that guy down and cut his killing spree short. Hell, wouldn't have even had to kill the guy really, just wing him real good and get the guys weapons away from him. Thats what I would have done. I support the right to carry 100% I think there would be alot less crime and just a bit more justice in this country if those of us with the brain power and sense of responsibility to do so carried.

Evidently the media does, as they have pointed it out in every piece of coverage they have.

You you actually think everone that carry's a gun can shoot good. Because if you think they can you are wrong. Hopefully the guy that would of had a gun could shoot. But I bet most of the people that carry right now can't hit any thing over 20 feet acurate

You have to qualify to get a CHL (at least in Texas), they don't just hand them out to everyone. I’m not an amazing shot myself but I'm better than most military guys I've gone shooting with. I feel confident in my abilities to hit my target.

I think that falls in the guidelines of being responsible enough to realize how capable you are. if you know you can't hit the broad side of a barn then you should also know you have no business carrying a weapon in public.

nonono... you alternate your load... slug to drop em w/ a giant hole in their chest, buck to expload their head from close up... or rubber rounds to break ribs or limbs... Hell you could even whip out the fire ball load... dragons breath or whatever its called.

Some random schmuck who has never held a gun before in his life, that would be a different story. I'm sure they would be scared out of their mind. I was pretty nervous the first time I had to carry a loaded M-14 on watch.

Anyway, back to my point. You and I have received the proper training. We did our jobs, and did them correctly. We arrived back on US soil in one piece. No big deal.

I am a gun owner and I do believe in rights to carry, but encouraging civilians with little knowledge of how and when to use a weapon is a scary thought.
This is right on.

Everyone that is a law abiding citizen carry a gun. Not good. There are to many stupid people. Hell the yankees lose and 30 people die.
Hell the United states will look like Iraq, just without AK's

The more guns on the street means more dead bodies

These two statements closely resemble what I agree with. Society is getting more stupid with each generation. How else can American Idol be so popular? It does frighten me to know there are amatuers carrying concealed. I would have no problem with CCW if they went through the proper scenerio trainings. If somebody was carring at VT, because of improper training and mindset, the shooter could have easily overpowered them and now he also has his/hers weapon with possible more victims. Mindset and keeping your cool in life threatning situations can only happen with training.

If they knew how to use and carry a gun properly, they would know not to fire if someone is between them and the target.

Get rid of guns all together? What about the criminals? They will still have them. If someone really wanted a gun, I'm sure you can get one from Joe Blow's trunk in a back alley of any major city.

I highlighed "if" for you. I have seen enough moron's at the range acting like they know everything about guns to know that this is a big "if". They pull out their guns and they have scopes on pistols and laser sights on .22 rifles. Take that stuff off and they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Practice, practice, practice. Also, big scopes aren't meant for CCW.

What will happen with stricter gun laws? More crime. It will only keep the honest people honest. The criminals will still be filing the serial number from their weapons, and be buying as much illegal weapons as they like.
