Need A New TV

I bought my Samsung LCD 46" tv Black Friday in 2008. Well its getting old, its outdated and have a couple of misc. problems with it. One vertical line of pixels is out (not too noticable), the white balance and blues/reds are all hazy and not clear. Plus it only has a refresh rate of 60hz..

So I am looking at a new TV come this Black Friday. What is hot now?

I was thinking another Samsung or Vizio; both 65". Want a refresh rate of 120hz or higher.

What is better now, LED or still Plasma. B/C with LED, the display is still LCD..

So what are your opinions?

I've got a couple of years on a Plasma, and I still like it. I get lots of compliments on the colors.

I've had a Samsung 42" plasma for like 5 years....love it. It can get some glare from lights in the room, but those can be turned off if need be.

Here's an article you may find interesting.

The higher the refresh rate (60 hz, 120 hz and 240 hz) the clear the pic and less pixalated it is. With a lower refresh rate (60 hz), while watching a fast paced sport (basketball, football or hockey) it will be all grainy and pixalated.

So moral of the stpry, get a higher refresh rate, lol.

I would also think about getting a smart TV. There is more and more TV option coming over the net. There are other devices you can get if you don't have a smart TV but less devices means less plugs and cables, less mess.

With those new plug-in dongle things, you really don't have any more wires.

Dongle, that's a funny word.

Worth considering if you can find a deal on a "dumb" TV.

You will have either and HDMI cable and a power cord or some RCA cables and a power cord plus an additional remote to loose and have to track down. There are some that plug into your USB that won't need cords but you still have the extra remote.
