Need help and opinion...Botched auto repair

Hey guys,

Wanted to reach out to the audience here and get your opinions...

I have a '13 Nissan Altima. 3.5SL V6 with Tech Pkg. 8K miles.

It was in a moderate collision back in December '13, causing $8k in damage to the entire front clip (fenders, bumper, hood) and a handful of components under the hood. The car was repaired and returned to me.

In January I was involved in a 2nd collision, this time $10K in damage again to the front clip, front driver's door, and then the entire passenger side, front/rear fenders, both doors, front/rear bumpers, and the windshield. The car was again repaired and returned.

Now I brought the car back to the insurance company because I am not happy with the paint job or repair work. A new body shop (can't go back to original since I am in different state - long story) has quoted $10K to re-fix the car and repaint everything. (Most of the cost is repainting and this is a real rough estimate)

I don't think they should fix it again - I think they should just total the car and move on. It's not going to be worth anything anymore and it's never going to be perfect. What are your thoughts? Do you think I am right to demand they total the car?

Pre-Collision Market Value - $24K (est based on similar cars for sale online)
Accident Damage #1 - $8K
Accident Damage #2 - $10K
Estimated New Repair - $10K

Thoughts? Opinions? Please help!

You're analysis is flawed.

You should be looking at repair cost v/s current value. Previous repair costs are not relavant.

I agree but how much could it possibly be worth after 2 accidents totaling more than $18K in repairs.

Doesn't matter. They just look at the cost to repair now.

Not even close to write off value even with the previous two accidents.

Cliffs notes version.

You were in 2 wrecks in 2 months doing the same type of damage. Your insurance paid twice and you accepted the repairs both times. Now you want a new car so you want your insurance to pay you a third time just because.

As far as insurance is concerned once a repair is made, the value returns. So a 20k car is back to being a 20k car no matter the damage amount once its fixed, and no matter how many time you drive into a tree afterwards.

So imo, they shouldnt pay you any more. As a side note, good chance a third claim will = you with a canceled policy.

This. I had a car that right after the first payment was in the mail, a tornado came through and dropped a tree limb on the roof ($10K). Got that repaired, and then hit a coyote that ran up out of a ditch right in front of me ($600). Fixed that, then Mr. Stu Pedasso ran a stop sign and hit me ($13K)... got that fixed and dumped that POS before giving it another chance to kill me (or cost me more money). Took a beating on the trade in - it was only 2 years old, but I had the worst luck I've ever had with a vehicle in that one... I think it was cursed because I traded my TJ for it. No incidents (knock on wood) over the 4 years since.
